SYSTEM OF A DOWN Drummer: 'I'm Staying True To My Nerd Roots'

SYSTEM OF A DOWN drummer John Dolmayan told the Calgary Sun that he plans to launch an Internet-based comic-book company when the band goes on hiatus after this year's Ozzfest winds down. "It's my other passion — I love music, and comics are what I've also been into since I was a kid," explained Dolmayan. "I'm a nerd, man. I'm staying true to my nerd roots."
During SYSTEM OF A DOWN's long hiatus, the group's guitarist, Daron Malakian, will be launching a new band called SCARS ON BROADWAY and plans to work on their debut album this fall. Malakian told Billboard.com that SYSTEM bassist Shavo Odadjian is likely to be part of the group.
Odadjian is also planning to collaborate musically with the WU-TANG CLAN.
Ozzfest kicks off in Seattle on June 29 and will wrap up on August 13 in West Palm Beach, Florida. SYSTEM OF A DOWN is co-headlining most of the trek with DISTURBED, with OZZY OSBOURNE topping the bill on selected dates.
The latest single from SYSTEM OF A DOWN's "Hypnotize" album is "Kill Rock 'N' Roll".

At least someone is watching over us and SOAD is going a long hiatus; would be better if it was permanent. I concur about the comic front; when really it is a probably for a terrorist network. SOAD are a bunch of thoughtless, ignorant, D.C.'s. I'd rather people be demoralized than have their head cut off. I'm not saying that what happened at Quantanemo bay wasn't bad, that was fucking sick. I hope each soldier that let that happen gets what's coming to them. But even then, compare the differene between making people strike nude poses and slicing off a live person's head. Yes, I know the US, in the past, has done very stupid things. I'll be the first to admit. But you don't look at what a country did 150 years ago and judge them. Everyone who ever was involved in the wholesale murder of indians, the black and indian slaves, etc is dead. The US is a very different place.
Al Quieda isn't an indevidual person. There are terrorist cells set up around the world. And I personally think there is nothing wrong with getting rid of people who would rather suicide bomb a group of people because of a religious difference. Compare how the citizens of the US are now with the way it is in Iraq and the middle east. You don't see car bombs, stonings, and murders because of religion etc as much as you do in the Middle east.
And by the way, I know I said it before but I'm not by any means racist. I have a friend who's Muslim, originally from Lebenon. His name is something like Zeeat.

I love their music. I wish I owned their first Cd, but it all takes time. I only have problems with their politics.

The United States should take a nice long break from their involvement in Foreign Affairs, especially those in the Middle East. On top of that, id like to see a real candidate for president, enough of this rich traditional family bullshit that our govt has been polluted by for some time now. Lets have someone who grew up hard and knows about the everyday struggle to provide for your family.

lies in the ongoing Israel/Palestine conflict. The US, as the only remaining superpower in the world, has a unique chance to negotiate peace between the two and actually create some sort of progress over there - but instead unfortunately chooses to side with Israel only, which of course infuriates the Arab world.
Wouldn't you be pissed? Try and put yourself in their position. (And for the record: Israel did actually occupy Arab land back in the 40's)
Look a little further, to the very ROOT of the West/Arab problem - not just at the current consequences (sporadic terrorist attacks/ongoing, seemingly endless warfare in Iraq/Afghanistan)
This is no "hippie, leftwing commie" bullshit - just common sense.

I insult alot of peoples intelligence on this site for the simple fact that the mindless babble of this forum is ruining the experience for many of the users on this site. I for one am sick of reading the news and scrolling down about how these guys suck and this song sucks and this tour sucks and everyone sucks. I happen to notice the beginnings of a simple political debate and all the hate responses towards arab culture. Let me start with the fact that System preaches peace and protests against a government that lies to its people. The numbers aren't all from polls of iraqui civilians. Your right-wing military puts them out. So before you go around calling people farm animals, check your facts.
