W.A.S.P. Explain European Tour Cancellation

W.A.S.P. manager Daniel Stanton of Coallier Entertainment has sent the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:
"W.A.S.P. regrets to announce the postponement of the upcoming European festivals in July. While doing a routine physical, singer Blackie Lawless was diagnosed with an abnormality in one of the arteries leading to his heart [W.A.S.P.'s management stresses that Blackie **DID NOT** suffer a heart attack, as was erroneously reported on several Turkish web sites — Ed.]. Doctors have advised Blackie to not travel for the next 30 days to avoid complications from the medications prescribed to him. Blackie is doing fine and has had no physical damage in any way, but the postponement of the upcoming shows is very necessary to avoid any possible complications. Blackie wishes to thank all those who are concerned for him and cannot wait for the word tour that begins later this year. In his own words, Blackie says, 'I have been extremely lucky to be able to avoid a problem that could have been potentially life threatening years down the road if I hadn't been fortunate enough to be diagnosed early. Thanks to that I have avoided a potential serious problem!" The doctors say Blackie will be good as new in just a few weeks!!
W.A.S.P. recently returned to the studio and begun recording new material for their next release, tentatively due September 2006.
W.A.S.P. are continuing to promote their latest album, "The Neon God Part 2: The Demise", available now via Sanctuary Records' Metal-Is imprint.

bands are not bands anymore when one person keeps the name and continues solo or with non-original members, they are just hanging on to a name without meaning, maybe blackie woulda been more successful as blackie lawless who USED TO BE IN WASP, would be more respectful

I like W.A.S.P. Really I do. Regardless of the cancellation of their Canadian tour 2 years ago under questionable circumstances I still claim to be a fan of their music. I think Blackie needs to have a profound talk with his overtly protective manager who's been dragging the band's name through the shit for some time now but that's just me.
Get well soon Blackie. You may have been blacklisted from Barrymore's but there's till a few other venues in Ottawa that'll have W.A.S.P. one way or another in the near future.

ANY REASON FOR THE CANCELLATION, IS GOOD: W.A.S.P. ARE USELESS.
BRING CHRIS BACK AND MAYBE THEY WOULD, AT LEAST, HAVE A REASON TO TOUR FOR THE FANS OF OLD. BUT AS IT IS, I CAN'T IMAGINE TOO MANY NEW PEOPLE BECOMING FANS OF W.A.S.P.

KISS AND W.A.S.P. SHOULD NEVER BE COMPARED: KISS SOLD A LOT MORE RECORDS AND HAVE HAD A LOT MORE SUCCESSFUL TOURS THAN WASP COULD EVER DREAM.
SURE, BOTH BANDS SUCK NOW, BUT WASP KICKED THE BUCKET DECADES BEFORE KISS. THE REUNION TOUR IN 1996 MADE THE COVER OF FORBES MAGAZINE; WASP COULD ONLY DREAM.

Relax, dude. We're both on the same page. Both bands HAVE jumped the shark and are mere parodies of what each was in its best days. Sure, KI$$' salad days were WAY more fruitful than W.A.S.P.'s, but the analogy still holds. Plus, there are MANY ties between the two bands- Blackie was on the same NYC scene as KI$$ and the Dolls (Blackie even WAS a Doll for awhile...) Ace produced WASP's first demos, Peter Criss was vest buds with Jerry Nolan (a Doll, but still...) and yada yada yada. The bands have a LOT of small-world connections. They have even toured together. AND they are both bands that I liked a LOT, but that was a long time ago. They both jumped the shark 20 years or more back.
