Update: More Details Emerge In Theft Of AC/DC Frontman BON SCOTT's Grave Plaque - July 10, 2006
Australia's The Age has published more information about the theft of a plaque from AC/DC frontman Bon Scott's heritage-listed Fremantle gravesite, on what would have been the rocker's 60th birthday

The National Trust of Australia brass plaque, which proclaimed the heritage listing, is believed to have been stolen from the gravesite at Fremantle Cemetery sometime between Saturday afternoon and yesterday afternoon. (View photos of the grave: Photo#1, Photo#2, Photo#3.)

Yesterday would have been Scott's 60th birthday.

Doug Thorncroft, self-described "head honcho" of the WA Bon Scott Fan Club, said he was "shattered" by the theft.

"It's very disappointing, particularly at this very special time of the year," Thorncroft said.

"Some insignificant individual has decided to sabotage it, and steal this plaque," he said.

Thorncroft said he thought the theft had probably been an alcohol-fuelled spur-of-the-moment thing.

"They're possibly sitting at home now feeling terrible, which I hope they are," he said.

Thorncroft said the theft may lead to tighter security around the grave, which is a popular tourist destination, attracting thousands of rock 'n' roll pilgrims every year.

Scott was born in Kirriemuir, Scotland, but emigrated to Australia at the age of 6.

Growing up in Perth, the high-school dropout joined AC/DC in 1974 and the band went on to become one of the most popular and successful acts in Australia, then across the world.

Scott was found dead in a friend's car in the early hours of February 19, 1980, after a night of heavy drinking in London. He was 33.

What kind of fucked up drug addict would think it's cool to steal a grave plaque.

Happy B-day Bon, you were one of the best...we miss ya.

"He'd be so fucking old, only a little younger than my grandpa. Only the good die young Bon."

To put this in perspective, Brian Johnson will be 59 in October. So he's not THAT fucking old.

And for further perspective, Brian Johnson is only 4 years younger than Mick Jagger.

Everyone jokes about how old the Stones are, but in age, AC/DC doesn't trail behind them by too much.

ACDC may be old but they still put on a live show that makes most current rock or metal bands look like a bunch of novices.

"Keep an eye out. Minimum bid $100, no reserve!"

You think that's funny? What the fuck is wrong with you? A legend's gravesite is vandalized and you are getting a chuckle out of it? What if is was Chuck Shuldiner's gravesite? What about Freddy Mercury? You need to learn some fucking respect for the musical legends that helped shape the music you listen to today. Better yet, because you don't have any respect, you shouldn't even be listening to metal (or any music for that matter). Just pathetic!

It's apparent that all the "kids" are out of school for the Summer. I shouldn't be surprised at all the immature, assanine comments that have been on this site in the past month - more so than usual.

I digress, RIP Bon, you are missed.

Holy Shit, one would have thought his fucking family would have seen to it that Bon had a grave plaque by this point. Use some of the royalties you ungreatful family of pukes!

Perhaps if ACDC would have made a trip to the grave site, they would have seen he was in need of one as well, and, perhaps, paid for one for him.

I can't believe this shit: all these bands claim to be close and good friends, yet if one member leaves or dies, they are no longer worthy of anything but 'lip-service'.

Seems, to me, out of respect for him, someone should have taken care of this a long time ago.

SHAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, Bon and Brian are a few years older than the rest of the band. Angus was born in March of "55" so he just turned 51.
