Bassist BLASKO: OZZY OSBOURNE 'Can Go On As Long As He Wants To' - July 13, 2006
Regis Behe of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review recently conducted an interview with OZZY OSBOURNE/ex-ROB ZOMBIE bassist Rob "Blasko" Nicholson. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:

On playing the second stage at this year's Ozzfest:

"Anyone who has played both stages, like SLIPKNOT, will tell you that the second stage is way more interesting. The vibe is much stronger. Those kids who are usually in the grass setting off bonfires are now squeezed up against the stage. . . . It definitely feels a lot better (on the second stage), minus the sun in your face and the heat and some of the other environmental factors."

On whether the physical demands of touring might force Ozzy to consider, if not retiring, at least a drastic reduction of his schedule:

"He can go on as long as he wants to. Lemmy (Kilmister, of MOTÖRHEAD) is older (60), and he's still playing. ... You look at guys like Paul McCartney (64) and Tom Petty (55), and they're still kicking it. Why can't Ozzy?"

I like Ozzy Osbourne on a stage, every summer.
He's still doing it , he's still rocking hard.
He will retire when he die.

yup, ozzy once had a strong performance and put on a good show with a good combo of great music and shock value but really is putting a further and further distance between respectable performance i think a drastic reduction is in order.

Because Petty's a good songwriter, and Lemmy and McCartney are two of the most talented bass players ever to walk the face of the fucking Earth. All Ozzy has left is his name. He has nothing left to offer.

..."You COULD drive a car with your feet if you really wanted to, but that don't make it a good fucking idea."

The difference between Ozzy, Lemmy, Paul McCartney and Tom Petty is that the latter three are in relatively good shape, can still deliver and are still coherent. It's safe to say at this point that the dead horse has been beaten to a bloody, unrecogniseable pulp.

Mmm... Beer... c(_)

Ozzy hasn't been good live in almost 20 years. He took way too much drugs and drank WAY too much in his day. He has reached a point where he is almost a liability playing live nowadays. He can hardly hold himself up and for the most part uses his mic stand to support his weight.

He's over and done with. Ozzy is no longer capable of carrying the metal show he once could but then again he's not capable of keeping himself glued to the only machine he had that made him what he was (Black Sabbath) anymore.

It'd be safe to say Ozzy is only pissing away what little credibility he had left to his name.

I just hope Ozzy does call it quits completely before he literally does drop dead on stage because sadly, friends at this point that could very well happen.

If You don't like a band, WHY THE FUCK GIVE THEM THE TIME OF DAY AND CRTICIZE THEM............. Back in the day when we didn't like a band ie. Poison, you boycotted everything thing they did or put out on tape..... Out of all the mother fuckers who are saying shit about OZZY, 95 % of them are going to OZZFEST this year. They talk about how great As I Lay Dying or how great Otep or Every Time I Die is. The sad truth of the matter is, with out Ozzy and Ozzfest these bands would be nothing then a few hundred drunks in a club band. Ozzy tours and plays music because of the passion and love of it. The same reason we all love heavy metal or going to concerts. So he isn't as great as he was in the 70's and 80's. He is still OZZY FUCKIN' OSBOURNE !!!!!!

"He is still OZZY FUCKIN' OSBOURNE !!!!!!"

Yes,and he's still the most over celebrated and overrated frontmen in the history of Metal.

He deserves some credit for Metal being what it is today both bad and good but he's still but 1/4 of the Black Sabbath train that started the wheels rolling on the scene.

and yes...

"He is still OZZY FUCKIN' OSBOURNE !!!!!!"

but a shell of what he once was.
