Hopefully Adrian can reign back some of Steve's "epic by numbers" style and inject a bit of variety.

Though I am worried by such big song lengths, lets just hope they do enough to keep them interesting (e.g. Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner, 7th Son...)instead of repeating the same inferior ideas again and again (Dance of Death, No More Lies)

I agree with blackfarted....i hope it sounds more like somewhere in time, easily their best and most overlooked album.

can't wait for the cd but I thought they had a ton of songs written and recorded for this one, if so why the same old songs for b-sides? how many different versions of old songs can you put out? come on already another version of run to the hills or the trooper? don't care when or how it was recorded it's still the same song so I won't be buying the singles.

Was I the only one who got excited when I seen how long the songs were. Dance of Death was WAY to stripped down for me, and I'm hoping this one will resemble Brave New World more then that last mediocre recording. I know I'm going to get drilled for this, but I think Brave New World is one of Maidens top 5. Which brings me to this question. Top five Maiden albums?
1) Powerslave
2) Number of the Beast
3) Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
4) Brave New World
5) Piece of Mind

I realize this poll has probably been done a million times.
As you can see none of them are Di'anno era. I would even put Somewhere in Time, and No Prayer for the Dying above those two. Not that they aren't amazing.

Totally right, which Maiden fan hasn't got about 50 different version of Run to the Hills by now? They used to do cool B-sides, covers "I'm a Mover" and "SpaceStation No. 5" spring to mind.

Stop fucking your fans maiden, give us some decent B-sides like you used to!!!

I'd pick Iron Maiden and Killers of course.
The Di Anno era is the best one. Period.
I love Bruce Dickinson's vocals and albums though, don't get me wrong. His solo stuff also rules, it's simply brilliant.

I agree on the bsides issue....i have heard the trooper and run to the hills enough times by now.....i mean, how many times have those two songs been released as a sides themselves? about 3 times each! bloody hell!
Lets get back to the glory days of maiden b sides like 'reach out' 'sherrif of huddersfield' and 'ive got the fire'
And those bsides on the DOD singles were crap too...'more tea vicar' etc.

Maiden top 5?

SOMEWHERE IN TIME
SEVENTH SON
POWERSLAVE
BRAVE NEW WORLD
KILLERS

So is Reach Out with Adrian on lead vocals!
What about the "Black Bart Blues"? That was great too.
So was "Burning Ambition".
Anyway I liked the recent bsides too, such as "Pass the Jam" and "More Tea Vicar", they are jams, therefore not so structured, but they're still entertaining.

i can't believe some fans don't like the two Di'Anno (sp?) albums.
then again, someone said:

"1. Fear of The Dark (awesome production and a variety of tracks last good musical Maiden album)."

you're entitled to your opinion. i just never would've guessed in a million years that anyone would pick Fear over, say, Number of the Beast. but to each his own.

i'd rank 'em:

1. The Number of the Beast
2. Piece of Mind
3. Killers
4. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (very glad many here appreciate this underrated gem)
5. Powerslave

cheers.

Does anyone know the name of the music that came out in the "Raising Hell" video when Simon Drake, the magician, was doing all the skits? The music sounds really good, but to this day I have no idea who that is.
