SEPULTURA Introduces New Drummer At Brazilian 'Dante XXI' Release Party: Photos Available

Brazilian thrashers SEPULTURA made their first public appearance with their new drummer, Jean Dolabella (ex- UDORA), last Tuesday (July 11) at Clube Belfiore in São Paulo during the Brazilian release party for their new CD, "Dante XXI". Check out pictures at Whiplash.net. Dolabella joined SEPULTURA as the replacement for founding member Igor Cavalera, who left the band last month due to "artistic differences." Igor announced earlier in the year that he was taking a break from the group's touring activities to spend time with his second wife and their new son (who was born in January). Filling in on drums during the band's European tour with IN FLAMES was Roy Mayorga, who played with Igor's brother Max in SOULFLY for several years in the late '90s and again in 2001-2003. Igor is the second Cavalera to leave SEPULTURA. In 1996, Max Cavalera exited the group after the rest of the band fired Max's wife Gloria as SEPULTURA's manager. I like andreas but it's true the band is just a parody of it's self now. When they reunite it will be great. Untill then put the name to rest.

I would say ... right about now ... it is pretty sad cause I used to hold the SEPULTURA {ex Max new Derek } flame like none other but I cant see myself doing it anymore... I will still listen to any new material they release but nevertheless ...
This just aint SEP anymore

don't get me wrong I love BTR and the whole Seps Catalogue but no way was it groundbreaking & anything new when it was released...it's heavily influenced by Slayer and is basically a straight ahead thrash metal album with not much variation ... not the best vocal performance by Max at that stage of his career either...I still prefer Chaos AD

Yeah that is Paulo Jr. It took me a second to realize that it was him! What's with the hair??? He does look like that old motherfucker from american idol. I used to love this band, but they have fallen off in recent years. Stay tuned...

...say there's no Sepultura without the Cavalera brothers,
but they decided to leave the band, not to put Sepultura to rest.
So I say, good luck to Igor, Soulfly allready kicks ass and so does Sepultura. I'm just happy to have two Sepz now.

Dante XXI simply kills. It's one of the best Sepultura albums EVER, up there with Arise, Chaos A.D, Roots and Schizophrenia.
Like it or NOT.
Sepultura kill with or without the Cavaleras, I hope they carry on and release an even heavier and thrashier album than Dante.
