AEROSMITH And VELVET REVOLVER Appear On 'Serve' All-Star Charity CD
- July 18, 2006
AEROSMITH and VELVET REVOLVER are among the artists that have contributed to "Serve", an all-star charity CD to benefit World Hunger Year (WHY), a nonprofit organization that strives to fight against hunger and poverty in America. Net proceeds from "Serve" will be donated directly towards Artists Against Hunger & Poverty (AAHP), a special artist-directed program of WHY.
Sponsored by Hard Rock International and Sony/BMG Music Entertainment, the "Serve" compilation features 12 tracks — many rare or unreleased — by a unique blend of major multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning and acclaimed recording artists. The tracks are either new or classic, studio or live, electric or acoustic, but each song reflects the generosity of the artists that donated them to the project on behalf of serving those in need. The attractively understated package includes a booklet with text and photos celebrating the story of rock 'n' roll's philanthropy, as well as the history of the beneficiary organization, WHY, and the vision of its founder, Harry Chapin.
"Serve" track listing is as follows:
01. BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - "Secret Garden" (String Version) 02. AEROSMITH - "Jaded" (Acoustic Mix) 03. DIDO - "Life for Rent" 04. THE STROKES - "Alone, Together” (Home Recording) 05. RAY LAMONTAGNE - "Shelter" 06. COHEED AND CAMBRIA - "A Favor House Atlantic" (Live Acoustic Version) 07. VELVET REVOLVER - "Slither" 08. MODEST MOUSE - "Ocean Breathes Salty" 09. DMC (featuring Sarah McLachlan) – "Just Like Me" 10. GOOD CHARLOTTE – "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous" (Live Acoustic Version) 11. LENNY KRAVITZ - "Let Love Rule" 12. THE HOLD STEADY - "Chicago Seemed Tired Last Night"
In addition to Hard Rock Café's Rock Shops throughout the country, the "Serve" compilation will also be available for sale through Hard Rock's web site at www.hardrock.com and WHY's web site, www.worldhungeryear.org.
