24-7 SPYZ: Early Albums To Be Reissued - July 19, 2006
South Bronx-based 24-7 SPYZ' critically acclaimed CDs "This Is…24-7 SPYZ" and "Strength In Numbers" (both released in the early 1990s on Eastwest/Atlantic Records) will be combined onto one single disc. This 78-minute set features the SPYZ lineup consisting of Jimi Hazel (guitar), Jeff Brodnax (vocals), Joel Maitoza (drums) and Rick Skatore (bass) and is scheduled for release on July 25, 2006 via Wounded Bird Records. The band has also released a new DVD (only available at www.24-7spyz.com) for the die-hard SPYZ fans, titled "HMS4L: The Many Lives Of Walter Rattamus". The two-hour DVD contains candid interviews with the band members, rare live footage with each of the band's lineups as well as all the group's promotional videos (as seen on MTV's "Beavis and Butthead"), including "Jungle Boogie", "Stuntman", "Break The Chains", plus many more.

24-7 SPYZ' first full-length live CD, "Can You Hear The Sound", will be released this summer by the Colorado-based label What Are Records? The label also released the band's "Heavy Metal Soul by the Pound" CD in 1996, which was basically the U.S. version of the group's "Six", released in Europe on Enemy Records.

After releasing two CDs in the late 1980s ("Harder Than You" and "Gumbo Millennium" on the In-Effect/Relativity label), 24-7 SPYZ toured with such artists as JANE'S ADDICTION, PRIMUS, PRONG, PUBLIC ENEMY and ALICE COOPER. Signed by Silvia Rhone in 1991 to Eastwest/Atco, the band continued their legacy by releasing "This Is...24-7 Spyz" and "Strength In Numbers". Even though the label allegedly pulled the band's tour support half way through their U.S. tour, they stayed on the road and continued to pack concert halls throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. They released "Heavy Metal Soul by the Pound", "Six", and "If I Could" (live EP) in the late '90s.

24-7 SPYZ, who were considered by many to be one of the trendsetters that sparked the collaboration between metal, rap, funk and R&B, released their latest CD, "Face the Day", earlier this year via Jimi Hazel's Gumbo Recordings label.

We're 24-7 Spyz...WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?
These guys kicked ass. I saw them in the late eighties at Mables in Champaign, IL - great show. They were with the Tar Babies and I wanna say Fishbone, but not sure! It was killer, they were letting everyone stage dive - a pretty good venue. I also saw Faith No More, Soungarden and Voivod there.

24-7 Spyz were the good shit!!! Way heavier than Living Color and funkier than anyone, they were the fucking groove!

They were big somewhere late 80's so anyone 30y.o. and above may have heard them. I'd LOVE to hear them again, man!

Great at the time and I have all their releases, bar the latest.
One of the best shows I've ever seen too. Awsome.
However the last time I put their music on I thought it sounded dated.

I'd like to hear their new album though.
