MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP: 'Tales Of Rock 'N' Roll' To Receive U.S. Release In August - July 19, 2006
Locomotive Records has set an August 1 North American release for "Tales of Rock 'n' Roll" by MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP (MSG), a special CD to celebrate the band's 25-year anniversary. The CD contains Michael Schenker's signature riffage on new cuts featuring an all-star assembly of singers who have recorded with Schenker over the past quarter-century: Graham Bonnet, Gary Barden, Robin McAuley, Kelly Keeling, Leif Sundin, Chris Logan and Michael's current vocalist, Jari Tiura. UFO's Pete Way chips in with bass for this special occasion and RACER X drummer Jeff Martin is behind the kit.

The acclaimed German lead guitarist has recorded 34 studio albums with 10 different bands, including SCORPIONS, UFO, MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP, and the MCAULEY/SCHENKER GROUP. Add to that eight live albums and five compilations and you get a staggering 47 Michael Schenker albums.

Just had to point out that mistake. Yes Jeff plays drums on the MSG record but in Racer X he's the vocalist not the drummer as the article suggests. Scott Travis plays drumms in Racer X.

I usually consider the Micheal Schenker Group and the McAuley/Schenker Group to be one and the same under Micheal Schenker's name.

And, yes, I know, I probably shouldn't but I do anyway.

just because the overrated hack played on them does not make them his records. the mccauly ones were his best mainly because mccauly can sing and write songs not just mindless riffs like his usual stuff. the guy has lived off his ufo rep for years and none of his solo work compares to it. he is a legend in his own mind.

everytime you post about MS, you say the same shit. You know as well as the rest of the world, without him, UFO would have been shit. So at least give him that much. As for the true Schenker fans, this was originally a concept album intended for UFO. Listen to this cd and try to imagine Phil Moog singing this. Read the reviews and then go out and buy it. I ordered the import months ago. If you know or like real guitar music, you can't deny the genius.

Jeff Martin is the singer of Racer X
He was the drummer in Badlands
I love Michael and with Jeff playing drums, that is more reason to buy this album

19 tracks, 13 sang by the new singer, the other 6 "a celebration" of 25 years of his own MSG band. So he has every singer that was in MSG. Get it? If you heard the cd, and know the UFO sound, you would know this music is too HEAVY for Phil Moog's style and delivery. Huh?

FO&GL!

This album is a showcase of MS's talent. It takes many listens to "Get it" but is worth it. The man is amazing in spite of his "personal" troubles. I got all 47 CD's and then some, wouldn't trade them for nuthin'.

And Phil can write and sing the heaviest Schenker numbers - Mother Mary, This Kid's, Lights Out, Self-Made Man, most of Sharks... But I think Tales of Rock'n'Roll is one of the best MSG albums yet, and you US people are in for a shock. It's THAT good. The solos are absolutely up there with Rock Bottom, Looking for Love, Let It Roll, Assault Attack, etc, etc. Genius. You can slag Michael's personal foibles; slag his talent, and you're just being stupid.

PS Dogs of War is a great song, and sadly relevant again.
