EDDIE VAN HALEN Debuts New Music - July 21, 2006
Paul Cashmere of Undercover News reports that VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen debuted some new music at the House of Petals in Los Angeles this week.

Van Halen played Wednesday night (July 19) jamming with Patrick Leonard (on keyboards). Leonard is best known for his songwriting and production work with MADONNA.

Undercover is told that Eddie and Patrick performed what is best described as an "impromptu jam of rock fusion."

Eddie, a personal friend of owner Joey House, agreed to make the rare appearance because he agrees the company philosophy of unity and beauty through flowers.

The invite-only audience included many celebrities, musicians, movie and TV stars.

Meanwhile, Undercover has learned that a Sammy Hagar / David Lee Roth / VAN HALEN tour is once again being mooted as possible. No confirmed dates have been locked in but all parties are known to be considering the possibility of the arrangement.

i think they will find a way to get back with them both.it will be very similar to the tour dave and sammy did before.one night roth closes the next sammy closes.either that or they will just get roth back and do a reunion tour which would sell out in minutes.whats taking so long????

I dont see it happening, but how great would be a Roth/Hagar VH set. 3 hour show spaning 28 years of great rock. I dont think eddie is up to it until he deals with his drinking problem, but hagar could defenitly do it. Roth is a maybe but he is out touring right now too. would be kickass, (no bluegrass covers on this tour dave)

I totally agree about the drinking problem although I think it goes even deeper than that. I hit the undercover news link and that picture of him tells it all. He looks like he has discovered a whole new world where he has been reborn as Buddah. Somebody get this guy an intervention!!!

a coule of weeks ago and he looked and sounded good. Before they do get too old they should do it and hell why not Van Halen with both singers since they all need each other to do something a tad bigger than these rink a dink mini tours.

do the Haggar/Roth VanHalen reunion tour and put the final nail in the coffin that was VH. These guys all have issues and have ripped each other so much over the years that there is no way it would be a happy reunion.

Catch the show early - if it is ever booked - because we all know they can't play nice anymore. Too much wacko Dave, not enough juice to fill eddie up.

it is all but confirmed and DLR will be running his mouth off about it after this bluesgrass album dies down and sammy finishes touring the other half. There will be a new album with Roth and Hagar with Van Halen and a tour to support in 2007. This is definitely happening.

i am sorry guys but i grew up with van halen as my band, and i think that after seeing dlr a couple of summers ago totally embarass himself on stage every night the last thing the vh legacy needs is that. dlr needs to go home, sad but true and you know it. sammy still rockin'. see kids ego kills you. and eddie is too much of a dick for it to work. poor michael anthony is like the child caught in a divorce wants to party with sammy but feels commited to eddie and alex. why dont they just release a killer dvd a box set and retire.

sad story: bad relationships, constant fallouts, guitarist not in the best of health as far as i know. hardly any new material in years. (sigh) so does this mean eddie will finally have something in the works for us soon?

Van Halen are icons. That being said.

Nothing would make me happier than to see Eddie ditch Al and the whole VH mess, and make a fusion record with crazy ass jazz master sessionists, just to clear the blockage in his head, and get back to some original, unique compositions.

Could you imagine Eddie and like...Victor Wooten, or Otiel Burbridge...with Vinnie Calutta or Kirk Covington on drums, and maybe even a Chick Corea type on keys. Would it fly?

Flame on metaldregs!

I seen VH open for Sabbath on their "Never Say Die" tour..Van Halen blew them off the friggin stage!! Seen every Van Halen tour with DLR on vocals...must admit DLR became more and more annoying as VH fame grew...BUT he still put on one hell of a show..whether he remembered all the words or not. When Sammy came in after DLR left...I hated it...and IMHO it still does not hold up to any DLR stuff....Eddie chose booze over Valerie..what makes you think he could quit long enough to do a major tour again? As much as I want to see it...I would hate to see them start a world tour and it blow up within a month.

I know this is probably going to be as good as it gets w/ seeing dave w/ van halen and being able to see my idol eddie shredding to the old van halen classics w/ dave, but hagar come on really. Hagar sucks thats all there is to it. You would think the way eddie and sammy are or were at it within the last year and the way dave has really been pushing for a reuion tour it would be all dave and vh. But if it happens you know all be there, ITS DAVE W/ VAN HALEN.

Every real rocker needs to see Van Halen at least once in a lifetime.

I saw them play a few years back. The few songs they played between all the long solos, and constant banter was so-so at best. They might have played better if they were sober...

If they can get a good sound and stay sober and not kill one another, then I'd love to see it.

Am I the only one who likes BOTH the Sammy era AND the David Lee Roth era?

I heard "Van Halen I " shortly after its release, and I'm still impressed with that album. Eddie was on top back then (But Shawn Lane was about 14 and kickin' Eddie's ass....too bad he didn't get the fame.)

Viewed a number of live tunes from the 2004 tour off YouTube, and the quality of Eddie's playing has dramatically declined. I don't think the return of DLR into the fold would motivate Eddie to put down the booze and soberly rediscover what he once could do on the axe. He's NOT that old, but alcohol pickled the right and left sides of his brain.

The healthiest thing for Eddie to do is to get drunk one night, shave his head again, smash or burn all of his musical instruments, and retire to a warm and quiet place in the Pacific. No creative pressures, and no singers and drummers and bass players asking for handouts. Just peace and handsome royalty checks. Maybe if he left music alone for a while, he wouldn't feel the need for intoxicating beverages; yet then again, he might grow bored and drink even more.
