CHRIS CORNELL To Perform New JAMES BOND Theme Song? - July 21, 2006
MI6.co.uk reports that AUDIOSLAVE/ex-SOUNDGARDEN frontman Chris Cornell has told a Finnish newspaper that he has written the theme song to the 21st James Bond film "Casino Royale".

Cornell will also perform the title track. This would make him the first male lead vocalist to perform a 007 song since A-HA in 1987 for "The Living Daylights".

He was quoted as saying (translated), "I haven't seen the new Bond fully, because it is still being edited, but I have seen several clips of it. Absolutely amazing movie. Very different than earlier Bonds."

Songs written by Chris Cornell have been featured in several blockbusters, such as "Singles", "Collateral Damage", "Great Expectations" and "True Romance".

Cornell told AOL Music News last month that he has begun writing songs for his second solo album.

"I'm going to hopefully finish it and record before the summer's over," Cornell revealed.

When might the album see the light of the day? "Who knows?" Cornell said. "This [new AUDIOSLAVE] record comes out in September, and I don't really want the two to be fighting."

While he's unsure at this point what direction the solo album might go, a clue might come from his love for acoustic music. "When I did the first [solo album] there was definitely a bit of surprise, because people expected it was going to be more in the vein of acoustic, and it wasn't, really. I feel like the songs for this second one may be more in that direction."

AUDIOSLAVE's new single, "Original Fire", has been made available for streaming at Audioslave.com in all major streaming formats, according to Launch Radio Networks. The track comes off the group's upcoming third album, "Revelations", which is due out on September 5. The band shot a video for the track in Los Angeles on June 29. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, AUDIOSLAVE guitarist Tom Morello described the quartet's new effort as "LED ZEPPELIN meets EARTH, WIND & FIRE."

"Revelations" follows the band's second album, "Out of Exile", which came out in May of 2005 and has sold more than a million copies. The disc debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200.

The title track from "Revelations" will also appear on the soundtrack of "Madden NFL 2007", the latest in the red-hot video game series which arrives in stores on August 22.

AUDIOSLAVE has not yet announced tour plans in support of the new CD.

I agree, Chris Cornell Is one of the best rock&roll singers of this generation.

however James Bond Movies are the cinimatic equivalent of a Kiss or Motley Crue album.
Lots of Hype and effects to distract you from the fact that its a shit product to begin with...

This will either be rubbish or extremely immense....Don't care what anyone says, the 'James Bond Scale' that all James Bond Songs should be written in does have a lot of potential.

Who the fuck cares about James Bond anymore? How many fucking movies are there anyways? It's all the same shit with some bitch in it that you KNOW he's gonna fuck. As far as I'm concerned I've already seen the movie before it came out. As for the music, not really excited. Might give it a listen, but might not. Who knows.

yeah, I know its a long shot, but I just can't give up hope! even though it won't happen anytime soon, Chris has not completely ruled out the possibility. I read somewhere that he said (I'm paraphrasing) - maybe in a few years if its for the right reasons, and everyone is on the same page a Soundgarden reunion could be a slight possibility

Check out Euphoria Morning. Top notch. I will certainly check out all of his solo stuff, the Bond song included. Sunshower from Great Expectorations was a really good song. Saw him on his one and only solo tour, and it was a great great show.

Cornell solo material when it comes out. As for a Soundgarden reunion, I'd love to see it, too...but it ain't gonna happen, folks. From what I understand, Kim Thayil shot it down 5 years ago at a time when Matt Cameron could've done it.

I just hope this solo album better than the last one.It was over produced the poncier demo versions are way better than the official release.I miss Soundgarden but I'll take Chris Cornell singing and playing acoustic over Audioslave anyday.

When did Chris Cornell stop signing the higher notes? I borrowed the first Audioslave album and was disappointed. If he can only sing like this now, I don't think another Soundgarden album would be so memorable.

I heard one of songs off his new solo album on the radio yesterday, and it didn't sound that bad. It was definately better than Audioslave. It's hard to believe that these guys once used to make up 3/4 of Rage Against the Machine.
