Extremely Rare IRON MAIDEN Guitar Amp Available On eBay - July 22, 2006
According to MaidenNorway.com, an extremely rare item has surfaced on eBay, which is a definite must-have for any serious guitar-playing IRON MAIDEN fan. If you've got £4,500 (about $8,400) lying around that you don't know what to do with, and you play the guitar — check out the Marshall JMP 50 amp that has appeared on eBay. This is, according to the seller, one of 500 amps made for IRON MAIDEN exclusively.

In the eBay listing, the seller states: "Marshall JMP 50 short chassis, as made for IRON MAIDEN in the '70s, only a batch of 500 were made for them specifically to tour with, as obviously as any rock band knows you gig hard you play hard and need backup amps. This amp has been restored by guitar guru Pete Cornish, who does the PINK FLOYD pedal boards and all of Jimmy Page's effects and amps, he actually remembered the amp when I took it into his workshop! The amp has a 4-watt to 75-watt switch, it's a 50-watt amp but Pete rated it at 75 watts!. I have all the circuit board pictures and can take more to satisfy anyone's curiosity, this is such a good amp I don't wanna let it go. I reserve the right to end the auction early. The amp is sold as seen. I have a good courier who handles a lot of music gear, so they take care."

Check out the auction at this location.

Iron Maiden were not very big in the 70s, especially to have a luxery like that. Secondly, 500 amps made for them? Right. Even the biggest bands in the world don't have 500 amps made for them.

that amp looks like a Plexi model. Maiden switched to the JCMs in the early 80s that gave them their trademark tone. Any Maiden fan buying that amp will probably not get the 80s Maiden tone.

still, Plexis are damn nice amps. I just prefer JCMs.

COMMENT | yeah, this does sounds a little fishy

Maiden didn't achieve international popularity until the release of their self-titled debut album, which didn't come out until 1980. but regardless, this is still a pretty good vintage amp head. I'm not sure what the pounds to dollar ratio is, but if it has been refurbished and is in perfect working condition, its gotta be worth at least a grand.

Posted exactly what i was going to say towards the top.
Maiden didn't make it "big" until the 80s and there is no way they had 500 amp heads, especially customized ones, lying around.
or that matter NOBODY has hundreds of heads lying around. That's just stupid.

That seller is fuller of shit thna a Thanksgiving turkey.

yeah, 500 amps seems a little excessive. it takes a lot to blow out an amp and i don't imagine anyone playing hard enough to blow one out practically every show. plus, if this is an "extremely rare find," then where are the other 499 amps?

COMMENT | NICE AMP!
