IRON MAIDEN Announces North American Tour Dates - July 24, 2006
IRON MAIDEN has announced that they will be beginning their 2006 World Tour with eight dates across the USA and three dates in Canada starting October 4 in Hartford, CT.

Tickets for the shows will start going on to the general public from the weekend of August 12, with details of local box office and on-sale times at www.ironmaiden.com. IRON MAIDEN has also arranged for a special fan club pre-order for all shows beginning August 1 and running through to the public on-sale date. Details of this will be sent directly to them beforehand.

This follows the recent announcement that their highly anticipated new studio album "A Matter of Life and Death" will be released on September 5 on Sanctuary Records.

Says vocalist Bruce Dickinson: "This is the first time we've started a tour in the States for many, many years. It's going to be great to get out there so the fans can get to hear the new material and see the new show first for a change. We're all incredibly pleased with the album, and the tremendous response of those people who have had the chance to hear it so far. Their reaction has been phenomenal and we expect to play a lot of it on tour.

"We will be bringing the full show to America, which we are currently putting the final touches to, and we fully intend to make it as spectacular and memorable as we can. And of course, our mate Eddie has already booked a place on the plane with us."

On the topic of "A Matter of Life and Death", Bruce comments, "This album has to be our best since working with Kevin Shirley (producer). There is such a wide scope of musicianship on this album. Every one of us has put everything into this record and it's really paid off."

The upcoming North American dates represent the beginning of the "A Matter of Life and Death World Tour", which will continue into Japan and then travel through to Europe, finishing with two shows at London's Earls Court Arena just before Christmas. All the shows on the European leg have been on sale since March and reaction to the dates has been incredible, with the majority of shows already sold out months in advance.

Accompanying IRON MAIDEN on the USA tour (excluding the Hartford and Los Angeles dates) are new U.K. metal sensation, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, who have been receiving rave reviews while on tour with GUNS N' ROSES throughout Europe.

IRON MAIDEN North American tour dates:

Oct. 04 - New England Dodge Music Center - Hartford, CT
Oct. 06 - Agganis Arena - Boston, MA
Oct. 07 - Tweeter Center At the Waterfront - Camden, NJ
Oct. 09 - Colisee Pepsi Arena - Quebec City, QC
Oct. 10 - Bell Centre - Montreal, QC
Oct. 12 - Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum - Uniondale, NY

Oct. 16 - Air Canada Centre - Toronto, ON

I still feel the tour should be a bit more spread out with it having so few dates. But ah well... hopefully they'll do a bigger US tour next year.

What the hell??? I knew they wernt going to play New Orleans. The market for metal here sucks and no one plays here after the hurricane too much. And Maiden hasnt played here since 1988. But where are the Texas dates??? I traveled to see Maiden in Dallas in 1998, in San Antonio in 1999, then once in Houston and twice in San Antonio in 2000 and then again in Houston in 2003. I will travel to Texas to see my favorite band! But these dates are all so far away. After the Dance of Death tour only played in LA and NYC in the US I thought for sure better dates would follow. PLEASE PLEASE add some Texas or south USA dates on this tour!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'M NOT! The NY/NJ area is a hotbed for Heavy Metal! Bruce even said so when they toured here *all smiles*

Shit, from where I live I could see them @ the continental which is 15 mins from me, Camden which is 2 hrs, Hartford which is 2 hrs and LI which is 1 hr *grin*

This is the ONLY reason why living in NJ is good LMAO!!

Is your life that empty that you have to come onto these forums just to say you dislike a band? Go get a job, or find a hobby, or if all that fails kill yourself. You're just taking up room anyway. If you can't at least appreciate what Maiden's done for metal then you're not a real metal fan. You're a fucking poser. For example I don't really care for Opeth, but I understand what people see in them. They're just not what I'm looking for. So do you know what I do when I see Opeth news? I skip it, because unlike some of you people I have a life. Now when I see an Iron Maiden post I don't want to hear what some 15 year old kid has to say on one of metal's biggest pioneers.

hmm...I live in NJ so there are 3 dates to choose from. Camden I almost would rather not go to because I could get shot. Anyone going to that Camden show...just know that it's a DANGEROUS area to be wandering around in...better hope the show gets out early as possible, haha. Probably hit up Continental Airlines Arena, saw Unholy Alliance there it was phenomonal. Never been to that place in Long Island but that's only a 90 minute drive from where I live so that should be cool...and who said East Rutherford is a hundered miles away? Sorry but that's not true, nowhere in Jersey is hundreds of miles away from anywhere else in Jersey. East Rutherford is really only a trek if there's traffic, but if you leave early enough and dodge the traffic it really isn't that bad of a drive. And East Rutherford isn't exactly a "coast town", it's really just a very distant part of NYC. Just like the rest of NE Jersey. haha.

But seriously. Maiden rock, and that's all there is to it. Wish I could say the same for BFMV, but I never saw them--got to G'n'R too late when they opened up. They should be pretty good, at least, if they're opening up for Maiden.

I don't think they will add any more North American concerts. They have a show in Denmark on Nov 9, and the last US/Canada show listed is on Oct 21. They stated that they will be in Japan before Europe. So they have two and a half weeks to:

- travel & transport everything from LA to Japan
- play 4 or 5 shows in Japan
- travel & transport everything from Japan to Europe

Some big cities that are sorta far from a show:
Washington, Miami, Tampa, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Minneapolis, St Louis, Kansas City, Denver, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Salt Lake City, Omaha, and Oklahoma City.

It looks like a lot of us will be travelling to see a show, so for this reason I predict that the Saturday shows in Camden & Irvine will be sold out.

Again, guys....Ottawa!

CHEZ 106 playing the odd song from you between the usual Tom Cochrane & Red Rider and BTO songs!

CHEZ 106's Jacki's not full metal like Indie 103.1's namesake but she almost sounds like Diana DeVille on the air (and Diana works at KNAC which plays a lot of Maiden)!

We haven't cared what Alanis Morrissette's been doing for 10 years either!

Exciter and Annihilator likely toured with you guys once before and they're from here!

With a plate of eggs benedict costing a good $25 or so at the Chateau Laurier on the breakfast menu what Ottawan would be insane enough to throw them at you onstage just because of a tiff with Sharon Osbourne?

If Judas Priest, Motorhead, Anvil and the Rolling Stones could make the effort to do some tour dates here what's stopping you guys?

Did I mention that Ottawa's classic rock station CHEZ 106 actually plays your songs?

So what possible motive could there be for Iron Maiden ALWAYS centering their Canadian tours to Toronto, Montreal and Quebec City?

...and while fugazi2112 does have a decent record collection, particularly regarding Pat Travers, Riot, Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, Thin Lizzy, Rush, Montrose, Slayer, Motorhead and Porcupine Tree, it still doesn't quite answer my question as to why Iron Maiden plays almost every surrounding city within Ottawa's perimeters with the exception of Ottawa itself since 1990.

you might not like Maiden but you have to respect for them for what they have done for metal as a whole.

Hey Fugazi you need a life man. First off, I don't give a shit how many obscure albums you have in your collection. It doesn't make you any smarter, or you musical opinion more valid. I mean you sit on blabbermouth all day ripping on a band just because you don't like them. Thats pathetic. Some of us do like them man. It's called personal taste. Personally I heard half of a Fugazi album 5 years ago, and let me say there is a reason I haven't listened to them since. Does it mean I'm right or wrong. No, it's just a different musical preference. I mean your list of bands make me think otherwise, but you sound like a young kid. I remember when I first discovered metal and everyone who didn't aqree with my taste was dumb and didn't know what good music was. But guess what? I grew up.

that blows, you'd think it wouldn't even be worth their time to come to North America to only do a few shows.

Mighty Maiden would tour the entire U.S.? WTF? Fuck the Long Island & N.J. dates. What about Madison Square Garden? Or better yet, remember the string of dates at Radio City? Are they tired or just not as big anymore?

P.S. Fugazi's a pussy name!

Maybe if we had a form of rapid transit like the European rail system then it would be easier to see them but I'm not going to drive 10 hours to see a "greatest hits" setlist!

I think it is Iron Maiden that is the lazy ones when it comes to touring!

does anyone know approximately how much tickets are going for? just curious. unfortunately, over-priced tickets are a common thing nowadays. although I would love to see Maiden on this tour, I'm not paying 60 bucks for a friggin ticket.
