LED ZEPPELIN Rocks Britain's MPs

BBC News has issued the following report: They do their best to appeal to younger voters by regularly shunning suited formality, using slang and showing off their knowledge of popular culture. But it seems the musical tastes of Britain's politicians are stuck mostly in the 1970s. When asked by the British Library to name their favourite number one album, rock veteran's LED ZEPPELIN's 1969 classic "Led Zeppelin II" came out top. Albums by THE BEATLES, PINK FLOYD and DEEP PURPLE were also popular. According to Tory shadow immigration minister Damian Green, "Led Zeppelin II" is "the ultimate album for teenage boys — metal as art. No-one ever topped it. The opening riff is straightforward perfection." Lib Dem MP Lembit Opik said: " ZEPPELIN made a new kind of music. They created a genre many have copied but no-one has equalled. And 'Whole Lotta Love' is the greatest rock song ever." Labour's Alison Seabeck added: " LED ZEPPELIN simply blew me away." Read more at BBC News.

Do a little research before you post Led Zepplin at ther time were extremely innovative bringing different elements from different styles of music to mak e what we know as Led Zepplin one of the great musical pioneers.

That was the golden era of British rock. Back in those days, you had Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, the Who, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Whitesnake, Jethro Tull, Motorhead, UFO, Rainbow, Pink Floyd, and a slew of others. Who carries the torch today? The Darkness??? Cradle of Filth???? Bush???????????? British rock ain't what it used to be.
Then again, you can apply that statement to most other countries, too.

JBodak: The latest Darkness and CoF CD's pretty much stiffed in the US and Bush have long ago faded into indifference. It's actually James Blunt, Razorlight, Kaiser Chiefs, Arctic Monkeys and Pete Doherty that are carrying the torch of British music today.
For the record, I'm neither British or American but I do read way too much of the NME to validate my claim to pass the time while waiting for the bus in the mall when coming home from work.

ok first of all why would they be a rock n roll hall of fame band? the ppl that work there (no i dont know them) have a huge variety taste of music. i say maiden carries the british rock today and napalm too but zep shocked the world with their music it was great.

LED ZEPPELIN WERE ONE OF THE MOST INNOVATIVE BANDS OF ALL TIME AND ARE ROCK LEGENDS. HOW CAN ANYONE EVEN COMPARE A BAND THATS BEEN OUT FOR LESS THAN 10 YEARS TO MUSICAL PIONEERS SUCH AS LED ZEP. LED ZEPPELIN II IS A GREAT ALBUM BUT ILL HAVE TO LISTEN TO PHYSICAL GRAFFITI TO DECIDE WHICH ONE IS MY FAVORITE.
