IRON MAIDEN: 'The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg' Single Artwork Revealed

According to MaidenNorway.com, the artwork for "The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg", the first single from the new IRON MAIDEN album, "A Matter of Life and Death", has been posted online on the IMOC ( Iron Maiden Online Club) forum. Check it out at this location. As previously reported, IRON MAIDEN's video for "The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg" has been made available for streaming at YouTube.com. Kerrang! magazine has previously described "The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg" as "an intricate seven-minute epic that starts with a creepy, ominous intro before erupting into a crushing, almost LED ZEPPELIN-esque riff and a powerful, emotive chorus. More obtuse lyrically than most of the album, it's a curious, challenging choice for a single." "It's very different for us," admitted the band's bassist, Steve Harris. "It's very riffy. The intro has an almost nursery rhyme eeriness. Sometimes you try to create a mood and sometimes it's just there. Everyone's going to ask who Benjamin Breeg is, but you'll just have to find out for yourself!" IRON MAIDEN's new studio album, entitled "A Matter of Life and Death", is scheduled for release on September 5. "The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg" single will precede the album on August 14. "A Matter of Life and Death" was recorded at Sarm West Studios in London with producer Kevin Shirley, who also worked on the last two MAIDEN albums, 2000's "Brave New World" and 2003's "Dance of Death".

Just try to tell me you can't hear a resemblance to Iron Maiden in Show No Mercy. You like The Gothenberg scene? It wouldn't be around without Maiden. How about black metal? It wouldn't be nearly as diverse without the Maiden influence. Iron Maiden made it okay for metal to be extrememly melodic. Judas Priest and some early metal bands had some simple melodies early on, but usually only about one or two an album. Like them or hate them their influence on metal is huge. So go fuck yourself. Thats why metalheads were afraid of metal getting to popular in the 80s because it brings in people who are just doing it for the image, and don't have a fucking clue about it's roots.

C'mon with the dumb intros already. Anyone think they're using these as filler when they need to stretch 30 minutes of music into a full length LP? Check the video on YouTube, and watch the timer. Dumb intro for nearly TWO FULL MINUTES!!
'Two Minutes to Midnight'? More like 'Two Friggin' Minutes Before Anything Resembling Maiden' starts to happen.
And by the way, whoever said this song sounds anything like Led Zeppelin has obviously never heard Led Zeppelin. That was just plain stupid, and the dude who said that needs a good kick in the nuts.
Last but not least, considering Maiden's recent love affair with intros, outros, and in-betweetros,.... I suggest a name change for this band. My suggestions are:
'English Water Torture'
'The Disregard of Timekeeping' (borrowed from Bonham)
.... and my personal favorite:
'Iron Hyundai' (because NOBODY gets more mileage out of one so-so riff than modern Maiden.)

At least we don't have to put up with Cobain's whining anymore. Oasis' songs were so whiney it was criminal. And the singer was so incoherent Ozzy laughed at him. To all the people who rip on Maiden for being cheesy. I would like to apologize for the band that they can't be as cynical as you. I mean it's been proven that running around stage, and having colorful album covers is cheesy. It's in no way a matter of opinion, and you know what? The other metal gimmicks, black metal-evil face paint, death metal-constant poorly written lyrics about 3 different topics,nu metal-we're so cynical we don't care,gothic/emo- everything sucks, they're all so tough and mean. ARRGHHH!!! I will say this again. If you don't at least appreciate the roots of metal you are a fucking poser.
BTW- I like a lot of the forms of music I just ripped on, but it still doesn't change the fact that metal bands have gimmicks you either like them or you hate them. Get over it and go outside for a change instead of bitching about bands on Blabbermouth just because they're not your style of music.

Why would I be repeating that shit... you see what I try to do when talking is bring up something relevant to the subject, and not just randomly blurt out something about country clubs. It's funny to how people who don't know Maiden or don't get into that style of music think it's all the same. Iron Maiden first two were punk/rock/metal. Number of the Beast was by far their most rock album. Piece of Mind was basically early progreesive metal(not that it was the most technical album, except bass. But especially original for it's time. Powerslave however is definitely a metal album with some of the greatest leads ever created. Somewhere in Time they added keyboards for dark atmosphere. And admittedly they fell into a rhythm and the next two sounded similar. I still think Seventh Son of a Seventh Son is one of the greatest albums ever though. After that they fell into a major slump......until Brave New World which is in my top 5 for Maiden. Which was just epic as hell, and contains some of the best material since Seventh Son. The only reason people say every album is the same is the sound production is similar, and they're all melodic.. Other then that.......

As for those that hate Maiden: fine, that's your opinion.
For those who like Maiden but are bitching about them: Just be thankful that they're still putting out records and touring.
At least you can still look forward to "the new Iron Maiden album" every once in a while, like we did when we were kids.

1. The same ol' three chords and same ol' strumming and same ol' song structure (virtual XI onwards).
2. Please get rid of the fucking keyboards. Face it, you guys dont know how to play one.
3. lyrics. i really preferred their inane beasts and monster lyrics to their 'let me tell you a story' lyrics.
4. they have the most agonisingly blind fans. granted, Maiden are legends. I still their earlier stuff. But be honest, they lost their mojo long back. This Breeg song is symptomatic of everthing wrong with Maiden. Dickinson's solo albums own any of the last few Maiden albums.

You couldn't of said it better...
I will never take away what Maiden has done for Metal, but comparing their earlier albums, to after Powerslave is a JOKE!!!..This biggest problem is Janik Geers(sp)..Too much story time..
Hecatombi..As for Slayer I will say the same for them, their Newer albums also SUCK..Just finished listening to Christ Illusion, besides the new Maiden might be the 2nd shittiest albukm of 2006

We Maiden Fans are not blind. Iron Maiden are a breath of fresh air because a lot of the stuff that is being marketed played on Headbangers Ball today is so Spinal Tap. The reason why is because the way I see it, it seems that each frontman is trying to growl and scream louder than the other guy.
Iron Maiden still have it in them and the fans are still going to support them. If you can't appreciate that, then FUCK YOU!!!!!

Iron Maiden are still a breath of fresh air whether you like it or not. Iron Maiden, as well as Judas Priest, are still going strong after all these years. You only heard one song off of AMOLAD, just you wait 'till you hear the rest of the album. When I heard the first single off of AMOLAD, I was beyond impressed with it and it made me want to listen to it more and more and each time is better than last time. You'd be surprised how often I've been hearing things like "They're not the band they used to be." Well, that is not the case with Iron Maiden because they continue to put out a metal album that is better than the last one and Maiden's fanbase is just as strong as they are.

the latter-half of the '80s sucked for the band and they just never recovered... there's too much synth, too much wanking around on all the albums since powerslave... people love songs like "the evil that men do" but i think they're so watered down. i wish they'd just write some balls-out material again... like a whole album of what made them great... "aces high", "wrathchild", "hallowed be thy name", "2 minutes to midnight", "losfer words"... stuff like that. ah well... at least we have the classic records!
I would also love to see a reunion with Paul

A reunion with Paul Di'Anno ain't gonna happen. Paul wasn't a great singer, but he was right for what the first two albums represented. As I have said many times before, Bruce Dickinson is a far better match for Iron Maiden than Paul was.
Do not expect Iron Maiden to do NOTB II or POM II. Iron Maiden evolve on each album, but they still manage to retain that heaviness. Maiden NEVER sold out. Maiden NEVER turned thier backs on that initial audience that supports them. Maiden NEVER followed any trends.
Iron Maiden are survivors. They continue to do what people love and remember.

First of all, cool album art. Pretty good song, if a little repetetive.
Secondly, Maiden isnt losing they're steam. They're experimenting. They're changing, growing, and evolving. When they started, they were young and full of blood and testosterone, and ready to take on the world. What are they now, 40? The music is different because THEY'RE different.
Thirdly, the intros in the songs are to build the mood (I know that sounds like some Barry White crap, but trust me). The intros set the stage for the song. This song starts off slow and melodic, then gets heavy, which is perfect for the lyrics. This song kind of reminds me of Dream of Mirrors, from Brave New World.
Fourthly, for everyone who complains about "Maiden changing", you guys need to realize something. If Maiden hadn't changed, you'd all be bitching and moaning about how "its too repetetive", or "this one sounds like that one".
Now, on to the Led Zeppelin comment. If you can't listen to Iron Maiden and find the Zeppelin influence, you're a moron. That's like saying Paranoid by Sabbath wasn't influenced by Communication Breakdown.
