AEROSMITH Frontman Wants To Tour With Fifty-Piece Orchestra
- July 31, 2006
|
|
|
AEROSMITH frontman Steven Tyler has told Rolling Stone magazine that his goal — inspired by a July 4 performance backed by the Boston Pops — "is to take songs like 'Home Tonight', 'Dream On' and a shitload of the good ones and go out with a fifty-piece orchestra." Also, "I want to do a string of shows at Madison Square Garden where the first night we do 'Toys in the Attic' and 'Rocks', in order, the second night 'Pump' and 'Aerosmith', etc." And look out for Tyler on TV's "Two and a Half Men", where he'll play an annoying neighbor who rocks out all night and all day.
AEROSMITH is currently writing material for its new album, tentatively due next year.
The AEROSMITH/MÖTLEY CRÜE "Route Of All Evil" tour starts September 5 in Columbus, Ohio, and the bands have announced shows until the end of November.

If you were in a rock band as succesful as Aerosmith and had the power to tour with an orchestra, wouldn't you want to? What else can they really achieve? It's a good idea.

Really what else can Aerosmith do at this point ? I'd love to see them plow through lesser known gems like 'Uncle Salty,' 'Lick & A Promise,' "Bright Light Fright,' etc. What would be interesting is to have them play the ROCK IN A HARD PLACE album all the way through since Joe & Brad weren't even on it. And what about NIGHT IN THE RUTS ? I'd be all that. Or a set comprised entirely of non-hits:
Rats In The Cellar Nobody's Fault Get The Lead Out Lick & A Promise Home Tonight Chiquita Reefer Headed Woman Mia No Surprise Uncle Salty No More, No More Get It Up Sight For Sore Eyes Bright Light Fright Darkness Rock In A Hard Place Jig Is Up Lighting Strikes Cry Me A River Round & Round You See Me Crying Walking The Dog Spaced
...oh, the possibilities.....

As much as I hate Aerosmith nowadays, I still dont mind seein them live if they are around. I would go to a show just to hear combination live.

An orchestra?!?! How completely and utterly gay. What's next, a choir for Gregorian chants? A German oom-pah band with tuba solos? A doo-wop group?
These guys are delusional at this point- all the hardcore fans are long gone and they seem to believe their own hype- pretty fitting that they toured w/ KI$$, they're in the same boat.
And if you think concert tix are expensive now, wait til you see them after these tools pass on the cost of carting around a 50 piece orchestra.

Actually, Aerosmith first jammed with an orchestra in the 90's, so Kiss did it way after them. Kiss were about 10 years late on that one. I don't know how I feel about this. I'm a pretty big Aerosmith fan, but I don't know if they really need an orchestra. It could be cool, though. Also, whoever said they haven't put out a decent album since '78 obviously hasn't heard Permanent Vacation, Pump, or Honkin' On Bobo.
