Man Dies Of Injuries Sustained At KORN Concert

WSBTV.com reports that the man who was beaten in Atlanta during a concert by KORN on Sunday (July 30) has died — and now his family wants answers, and police want your help finding those responsible. [Watch WSBTV.com video report at this location.] It happened at the Hi-Fi Buys Amphitheater during a concert by the group KORN. Police say 30-year-old Andy Richardson was beaten by two other concert-goers. Homicide investigators are looking into the beating. Andy Richardson passed away just after 2 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 1). He has been declared dead, but is on life support so they can harvest his organs for donation. Gloria Richardson is trying to figure out how a night of fun could end with her son's death. "Can you imagine your child goes to a concert and be killed for it, because of people out there fighting to have a quote unquote good time?" says Gloria Richardson. Gloria is still trying to comprehend how her 30-year-old son, Andy, ended up brain-dead after he was attacked during the concert. She also can't understand how the attackers got away. "And I'm angry. Hard to conceive how the man killed, his pregnant gf, and a retarded child could have been in a "MOSH PIT" area when the venue specifically says that moshing is not allowed.
I think that sort of activity should not be tolerated unless prior to purchasing your ticket you are informed that the tickets are for a specially designated area for moshing. Otherwise, everyone that purchases a ticket has a basic right to enjoy the concert free of excessive harassment from other patrons.
When you buy a ticket to a concert you are given the chance to listen to a band, not an entry into some UFC type free for all.

This is the nail in the coffin, folks.
Whatever rules are in place at these venues, security is obviously too lazy to uphold them or break up shit like this. There is no reason on earth incidents like this and Dimebag's tragedy should EVER FUCKING OCCUR. We USED to have something called "moshing". Which bred hardcore dancing. Which has now bred redneck brocore beatdowns. Mercilessly beating people up because your testosterone levels are fucked does not constitute "moshing". If any of live outside the US you can attest that everyone else just simply headbangs and at the most slamdances. Remember that stuff????? I went to Wacken 03 and felt safer than anywhere in the US ever. There needs to be serious groudrules laid and open discussion so this never occurs again. Security has been an obvious PROBLEM in this society, look at 9/11.
* Pick someone up when they fall down, and keep going. You can still get your rage out but be aware and considerate of the people around you for a change. The artists want this more than we do.
* Learn HOW to mosh. Dancing is totally different than moshing. Moshing involved pushing people around in a circle and nothing like punching, kicking, shoving, beating up and in fact when that happened you were ostracized.
This metal world is a small one and a COMMUNITY but only when everyone does their part and makes it so.
oh and FUCK YOU PEOPLE WITH YOUR DISRESPECT. The band has nothing at all to do with this, and your LOLs only dismiss the greater issues at hand here. A person died because of disregard for others who are different as well as lax security. I hope you rot

when you read the whole story it appears that it was a tragic, fatal accident that happened. One guy punched the other guy in the head and he fell head first on the concrete.
But then again... someone said a Korn-concert is a bad place for a visit with your pregnant wife and a mentally challenged Kid. ok moshpitting can be fun and might belong to a show like that (although Korn sucks ass), but you don't try that kind of stuff when you're close to a pregnant woman. That is the bottom line. Far too much stupidity on here and it is clearly obvious that this place is frequented by juvenile idiots.
However, I seriously doubt that blabbermouth will do anything of the sort - as there are probably a few idiots that are employed there as well.
This death is just a sad, sad story.
I've been in my share of mosh pits and I've gotten out when I could see the physical nature becoming overly violent. There are idiots (many of which probably post on this site) that go to these shows SIMPLY TO HAVE LICENSE TO ASSAULT PEOPLE - and NOT to hear the music or watch the concert.
This stupid ass behavior has been overlooked for far too long and I hope this incident will be a step in changing that.
It's all fun and games - until someone dies.

Its extremely tragic what happened to this guy and I sure hope this whole episode results in better security at concerts.
People here who pretend they are noble humans because they respect the dead is a load of bull. The point of course is very simple. A concert should be a safe situation to all the people in. When a person buys a ticket he or she has the right to think that he or she will not be attacked when in the concert area. So, what could anyone say ? Something went REALLY wrong there. People behind that kind of concert are definitely guilty and they should pay for their careless attitude.

I go to shows all the time and I'm 35. There's certain shows I won't take my 15 year old to. Period. If you're going to certain "types" of shows. Get SEATS. Not general admission. Maybe this is good advice for someone out there. I don't go to see Hatebreed or Slayer to hang out. I've got some aggression that they can bring. Even Korn - alot of their lyrics are pretty fitting. I certainly would not stand near the pit, because experience shows that you'lll probably get pushed in. Experience, if you don't know - ask. It's sad, but that's why people should get educated in ALL ways. No matter how small it seems.

SPMETAL. Your comment hit the nail on the head. Going to concerts is more out of line than ever. Also, the United States is more out of line than ever. I would love to go to a show, or festival in Europe. You do not have to worry about the BS that goes on in the United States. Sure Europe has their troubles at shows (check out the Vulgar Video when Pantera plays Domination in Russia--Police beating concert goers with batons), but no performer has been shot on stage because their former band split up. People have little or no respect for one another anymore.
Dimebag's death was BS too, and he was the performer.
R.I.P. to Andy Richardson. I hope his parents find the scumbags who did this. This incident does not sound accidental. Definitely intentional. It's sad that someone can't even go out and enjoy themselves anymore.
You can't blame this incident on music, films, or video games. This is all out stupidity, ignorance, and a lack of respect towards other human beings.

Management at the venue just this year changed security because of a lawsuit that they got into from a fan that got beat up at a Tim Mcgraw show there 5+ years ago. The management of the venue tried to pull the security company into the lawsuit. The security group was removed from the lawsuit due to the fact that they weren't working the lawn at that show. The company that currently works there is not going to jump into a mosh pit to keep order and thus you get a tragedy like this. Now the venue has been bought and will likely close next season. Business is
horrible there. The place reeks of vomit. Bands have commented form the stage about how bad the place smells. Management there is a joke. They brought in a subpar security team and someone dies 2 months later. I hope management gets sued ONCE AGAIN If the place stays open next year, those douchbags who operate it will hopefully be gone. I could go on and on.... I can guarantee you this would'nt have happened on my our watch. Rest in peace! God Bless you and yours!

What is this world coming to.?These people that beat this guy down must have been on some serious drugs. To kill somebody with your fists, you really have to beat someone down. Out of all the people on the floor, it is a pit remember. People are mashed up against eachother. At least one person should have seen something. These scumbags need to be caught. I hope someone comes foward. This is a straight up homocide. Andy deservres that much for these knucleheads to be caught, to keep them from hurting more people. What's inside of you to where you are at a concert to listen to music where you ended up beating and killing someone? I hope they are caught, sent to the pen and bitched out, tossin' salads till the day they die!

We USED to have something called "moshing". Which bred hardcore dancing. Which has now bred redneck brocore beatdowns. Mercilessly beating people up because your testosterone levels are fucked does not constitute "moshing".
ok... if any of you are old enough to remember. moshing used to be somewhat safe!!! no one ever hit the floor in line... and people were not throwing elbows or fist!!! the violence comes from the bands!!!! this bit of "let me see some blood" coming from the acts on stage isn't called for! I saw slayer in the eighties, and their pits weren't like they are today!! I would beat the shit out of someone back then if I got hit or slammed like they do now!! and Ill do it today too.... I don't go see half the shows I want due to the way people act today!!! there is a bad case of "I'm the biggest dumbass" at all shows today!! hell I even saw someone moshing at a bang tango show!! that's sad!!!

If you've ever been to a KoRn concert, it tends to be extremely loud, and I doubt people just stood there when they realized what was happening. It only takes "ONE" hit to make somebody braindead, if you hit hard enough, or if you hit someone with a series of blows at an accelerated rate. So why don't you think things through big man, before you comment. Big man on campus here broke up fights with bikers, woaaah I'm sure you did it all by yourself too right?? Korn still sells millions of albums and millions in merchandise, so that dying scene thing is one of your little crybaby dreams. Oh what a surprise, so does disturbed and godsmack. I didn't know that much success meant they're in a "dying" scene.

First off I want to say this is a very sad, unfortunate situation and no one deserves that shit.
The other thing though, I find it interesting that a 'lame nu-metal' band like KoRn would exert such fierce emotions from people in unison like they're known for doing with their intense shows. More intense then these death metal shows. Just thought I'd point it out.

What the fuck do you know about "accepting death". Try having one of your parents die and tell me about accepting it. (I'm sure no one in your family has died yet considering your 11 yrs old). I'm not saying I'm losing sleep thinking about this guy, but when something like this happens at a show that I've seen many a times, its a little disturbing. All I was saying was have some respect and dont make fun if him. This hits a little closer to home then kids in Africa.
Side note: and all the people ripping on Korn, I'm sure 85% of you were rockin out to the first 3 Korn records back in the mid 90's just like I was. (If you were even alive) All of a sudden nowadays it is somehow cool to not like them and nu-metal god it sucks anyways. I used to like Korn, and I still do, they just passed their prime. But for a band that created a whole new genre, doesnt that mean something?

Like others have said pits arent what they used to be, in the old days if someone falls you pick them back up, no fist or elbows being thrown, just running into each other and having a good time laughing and smiling the whole time. Now it seems its a reason to start a fight and I seen this shit a hundred times.One of the last Slayer shows here security watched 2 guys square off and while one guy got the shit beat out of him they stood theyre laughing until they had to carry him away and than they wouldnt do it until they had gloves on because of all the blood.Security at metal shows sucks, this guy had to die , Dime bag had to die and many people get seriously hurt, these fucking gay clubs and promoters need to fucking do something about it...
