KORN Asks Witnesses To Come Forward Following Fan Death
- Aug. 2, 2006
KORN has finally released a statement on the death of Andy Richardson. Richardson passed away Tuesday, August 1 due to critical injuries he recieved at the Family Values tour in Atlanta. He was attacked by two men during the DEFTONES' set on Sunday (July 30). Police say they have identified "persons of interest" in connection with the incident but have yet to make any arrests.
KORN's statement in full:
"All the bands on The Family Values Tour offer their sincerest condolences and prayers to the family of 30-year-old Andy Richardson. Richardson, who attended Sunday's show at Atlanta's Hi-Fi Buys Amphitheater, was beaten by two men at the concert and subsequently was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, August 1. The incident occurred during the DEFTONES set, before tour headliners KORN took the stage. KORN are appalled at the actions of these men and are imploring anyone who witnessed this or has any information about the attack to please immediately come forward by contacting local authorities."

i feel terrible about that incident. recently something similiar happened at a corrosion of conformity concert. what is the matter with people. going to a concert is about having a good time and blowing off some steam. not murdering people......i wish this unregenerate, vicious, fiend: eternal misery!

Thoughts to Andy's family and friends....Say hi to Cliff, Randy and Dimebag for me bro!
I guess as a band you have to do damage control a little, but in this case i think it was completely unnecessary to say " The incident occurred during the Deftones set, before tour headliners KoRn took the stage". I think thats so irrelevant at this point, sounds almost like saying "hey dont blame our music, we werent on stage". Just sounds out of place in a statement like this. I mean to put that in your offical statement after something aweful like this sounds a little self serving.

The government should sneak Prozac into the public’s drinking water. Hopefully making people a little happier so they don't go ape shit like this.

I go to concerts to listen to and watch my favorite bands play. Not to hear about or see someone get killed. I hope whoever did this rots in hell.
This isnt Korns fault, Isnt it the venues responsibility to provide security?

Korn should step up and offer a reward. It doesn't even need to be money. It could be Korn swag, I'm sure that would help refresh peoples memory about what happened that night.

Yeah, right, YOU provide PERFECT security for 20,000 crazy kids, and then you can talk. Not unless you had an entire police force at some of these concerts could you watch what is going on at all times. Come on, thousands of people here. 20 security workers can't do it.

it's the venue and their lousy security, who wants to get hurt for what they get paid, any show that i have seen at a big venue has dumb bunny security we call them yellow shirts about all their good for is to throw surfers back into the crowd they don't want cops cause they would bust half the crowd for stupid shit. but why nobody tried to bunghole 2 idiot drunks ?? R.I.P. ANDY AND ALL YOU JERKS WITH NO RESPECT GO TO ARAP SHOW AND YELL THE N WORD. SAY BYE BYE

the venue is responsible for security NOT KoRn or any other band
and some people on here should really leanr to show some respect, a man died and all you can do is slag off some bands
COMMENT | These shows.... posted by : summerteef 8/3/2006 11:08:36 AM
Are filled with fat, over the hill testosterone drowned toothles imbeciles that have no grasp of what is and isn't imporant in life. If beating someone up until they are tradgically taken away is consiered "manly," your mother should have spit you out. That was someone's father, brother and husband - people should stop drinking excessively and look to themselves to be a catalyst to a positive change. Whoever did this is a fucking coward and needs to be prosecuted for such callous intent and follow up behavior.
a babysitter's responisiblity and korn's responsibilty on their tour is a completely different thing. u gotta be kiddin me with that statement. i don't even like korn but its none of the bands fault. u take your own risk when u go to a concert. U know deftones is there and it is going to get crazy. I can't believe someone died at a korn/deftones show. insane
COMMENT | posted by : Punisher 8/3/2006 8:49:34 PM
"Yes it is. It's their tour, which makes them responsible for what happens at their shows. Just like, say, a babysitter - if a baby sitter is watching two kids for the night, it is his/her responsibility to make sure everything goes smoothly."
Never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never heard anything more dumb, anything more retarded than that. Read again what you wrote and you feel youself ashamed of what you said.

-Not Korn's fault (obviously, unless you're a stupid anti Korn person who just wants to give more shit to the band, even though a man's life was lost.)
-Fights happen, the death was caused by his head smacking against the pavement. -Fact? Yes. -Fights happening at a concert - Stupid. -Protecting his pregnent wife and mentally disabled son from 2 guys that are most likely "having some fun" by fighting people.. Those guys should be ashamed of themselves.
