IRON MAIDEN: 'A Matter Of Life And Death' Track-By-Track Review Available

A track-by-track review of the new IRON MAIDEN album, "A Matter of Life and Death", complete with comments from the band, can be found in the latest issue of Kerrang! magazine. Check out a scan of the article at this location. As previously reported, IRON MAIDEN has confirmed that the release date for "A Matter of Life and Death" will be August 28 for the entire world except the USA, where the album will be issued on September 5. The CD will also be available as a limited-edition special deluxe format which contains a bonus DVD. The DVD contains nearly an hour of documentary footage plus videos and photos all shot whilst the band were making the album. The documentary, titled "The Making of A Matter Of Life and Death", directed by Matthew Amos ( "Early Days", "Death on the Road" DVD documentaries) features candid video footage shot largely by producer Kevin Shirley himself during the recording of the album giving a real behind-the-scenes look at life in the studio . The bonus DVD also features the full 7:21 minute video promo for "The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg", and a special intimate filming of the band recording "Different World" in the studio. "A Matter of Life and Death" will also be available as a limited-edition double picture disc vinyl in gatefold sleeve, and as a digital download, available through the newly launched official IRON MAIDEN digital store, where you can buy single tracks, a bundle, or an album for your PC, or your MP3 player.

I can't wait for the new album, but does anybody notice that a good many new songs are like 9 minutes long? I love long epic songs, but usually they're one to an album. Not sure about 3 or 4 eight minute long tracks. Still interested in hearing the new album despite it's length.

Thos song descriptions could have been used for Brave New World Or DoD.
I liked DoD but didn't like BNW.

Ya know, there a are lot of bands that I can easily pick times in thier careers in which I wasn't impressed with a new sound, style, drummer or whathaveyou. I really do not like anything Maiden has put out in the last 10 years and I do think Bruce can be a bit lame but to discredit Powerslave, Number and the other songs from thier earlier career is unjust. Megadeth has done it, Metallica, Sepultura just to name a couple. So what? I have songs that I like and listen to all the time for these bands and could really care less if they are "still on top of it" you can never take away the classics. NEXT.

2. Killers
3. Number Of the Beast
4. Piece of Mind
5. Powerslave
6. Life After Death
7. Somewhere in Time
8. Seventh Son of A Seventh Son
The latter albums are not as good as the
first ones, but they continue making new music.

You know folks, trying to teach some of these kids proper grammar is like trying to hammer a wooden nail into a two inch sheet of steel. It just doesn't work.
But on a more on-topic note, I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of this new album. Been a fan of Maiden for fifteen years now, (Granted they've been around longer than that, but hey, some people just aren't old enough for all of it!) I'm expecting great things, lets hope I'm not dissapointed.

maiden's track record speaks for itself, 30 years and still around making albums and touring. they survived punk ,new wave, glam, grunge and nu metal and if anyone on here refuses to admit the influence they had(and still do ) then you either don't know shit about metal or you're just a dumb fuck,period.

think too much of the single. I'm hoping the rest of the album is better. I liked Dance of Death a lot, so I think they still have potential. Can't wait for the US tour, hopefully assholes wont ruin it for everyone by pissing Maiden off again. I'm surprised they even want to come again.

Bruce, what's up with the hair?
you're a mighty singer but spend a few quid on a decent hair cut or grow it back please.
if you don't, i'll still buy your CDs but, hell, mate, you're still got a decent hairline, grow it back. Steve looks like he did on from day one; you... not so much.
just a thought. to all the true Maiden fans, i'm half joking. but i do miss the Bruce with sweaty hair all over his face. he just looked more metal. but if he continues with this ridiculous semi-bowl cut, so be it; he'll always be one of metals greatest vocalist.
