'Professor' BUMBLEFOOT Rips It Up With GUNS N' ROSES

David Novich of The Journal News has issued the following report: At Purchase College, he is known as professor Ron Thal, an expert in teaching the art of producing music. But at concerts across Europe, he is known as Bumblefoot, the lead guitarist for GUNS N' ROSES. Since May, Thal has been touring with Axl Rose and the heavy metal band that rocked the 1980s and early 1990s with such hits as "Welcome to the Jungle" and "Paradise City". His fellow faculty and his students couldn't be more psyched. "I know this gig means a lot to Bumblefoot, and he's excited to be on tour with them," said Joe Ferry, a Purchase College professor who chairs the Studio Production Department. "He is like the most amazingly talented guitarist I've ever known, and he's just a regular guy." Thal, 36, has been playing before thousands of fans from Spain and Portugal to Hungary and Italy. In an e-mail last week, he said GUNS N' ROSES management asked that he not be interviewed, and he had to honor their wishes. But several Web sites show that he has been busy overseas. I'm sure that he's a nice guy and good guitarist, and all, but I'd still rather see Slash play in GNR than this guy.

That was Bumblebee.
Bumblefoot is an excellent guitar player. Not really my style personally, but it's nice that GNR has three soloists who have completely different styles, all in one band. For my money though, I think the real star of the new GNR is Richard Fortus. That guy is a Guitar God Supreme.

I like the old g n' r as much as any fan, and yeah it would be gr8 2 see the original lineup play together again - Slash and Duff in particular. But this new band still sounds awesome + I've seen em twice this tour and they really rocked. But anyway - original lineup couldn't include Steven now cos the guy's still fucked outta his mind. A friend saw Adler's Appetite play recently and took a video of Steven's drum solo and it was really depressing. That guy's an idol 2 thousands of drummers but now he' s totally lost it, he was obviously completely stoned off his face whilst playing and a couple of my 15 year old drummer mates could have played better than he did that night. Be great if he could get it together, but it's been over a decade and he's still out of it.

Fuck man - I wanna know how many straight guys have been doing this shit and have had thoughts about himself and his straight m8 suckin each other off.
If that shits makin ya feel like that, and if ya need it that bad, ya really got a problem.
Hope he keeps the drugs 4 after his shows in future, he says he don't wanna disappoint fans, but they came 4 a decent show, and that 1 I saw the clips of wasn't decent.
He really needs help - u can't do hard drugs 4 that long and live 4 much longer.

As far as I understand, the only reason that he's still alive is because apparently he doesn't have access to his own money. I think that his ex-wife set up a trust whereby he only gets an allotted allowance per month. Chances are, the dude would have probably ODed a long time ago, otherwise.

The last great Hard Rock band on the planet.
I saw them in Bilbao few weeks ago, and the show was awesome, more than two hours long and fucking crazy, with even the guitar god Izzy coming out to play. For me was "cold" not to see Slash, Duff and Steven (better than Matt of course, and huge drummer, whatever you say) in the band, but hey, I got to see Axl and Izzy together, which didn't happen since 1992/1993.
GUNS N' ROSES belong to the history of Rock, little boys. You talk shit now only about Axl eccentric way of living but I'm sure is because you know shit about the history of the band. They were the most dangerous band on the planet. Check the million histories.
You haters, wait for the reunion and see & hear. And then shut up.

OK, now that the European tour is over it's time to get behind this record and release it. There couldn't be any more press support right now...they're taking pictures of Axl taking a dump at 4:00 AM for chrissakes.
Kudos for selecting good players that fit the music rather than trying to make a splash with a big name (a la VR, Supernova, Damnocracy, etc.). Thal seems to fit in well, so good luck to him. Sounds like a good guy that has chops. Will be interested to see if Uncle Axl lets him re-re-record some of the guitar parts for ChiDem.
Pistols and Tulips are set up well for a successful release. They just need to execute the "release" part...really the most important part of success methinks.

I still don't like glam. Especially glam band who pretend not to be glam and to play "hard" rock. If you want "hard rock" listen to Motorhead now that's a really KILLER band.
