ALICE IN CHAINS To Kick Off North American Tour In September - Aug. 8, 2006
ALICE IN CHAINS will embark on a North American-wide tour starting on September 22 in Las Vegas. The tour will hit over three dozen cities including San Francisco, Austin, Toronto and New York. Hard-rock band HURT will be supporting ALICE on the tour.

These performances follow ALICE IN CHAINS' successful six-city club tour (all of which were instant sell-outs) and overseas festival dates and mark the return — after a long hiatus — of one of the few surviving bands from the much-beloved Seattle music scene. ALICE IN CHAINSJerry Cantrell, Mike Inez and Sean Kinney — will again be joined by William DuVall on lead vocals.

Tickets for these shows will be available via a special fan club pre-sale through the band's website (www.aliceinchains.com) beginning Monday, August 14 with tickets available to the general public on Saturday, August 19.

Additionally, music fans can hear some of the songs the band will be performing this summer on "The Essential Alice In Chains". Set for a September 5 release on Columbia/Legacy, a division of Sony BMG Music Entertainment, it's the first comprehensive two-CD collection ever issued on ALICE IN CHAINS. The 28 tracks are from all four original albums the band recorded — "Facelift" (1990), "Dirt" (1992), the self-titled "Alice In Chains" (1995), and the live "acoustic" "MTV Unplugged" (1996) — as well as their two EPs, "SAP" (1992) and "Jar Of Flies" (1994). Also included are remixes of their two songs from the "Last Action Hero" original motion picture soundtrack album.

Ya damn right it's not AIC without Layne & at this point, that's ok with me. Jerry is the driving force behind this band & the music anyway. I think this guy does a good job with the vocals & I'll be there to pay tribute & bang out some AIC jams for a night at maximum volume! I'm in!

AIC is one of my favorites but there is no AIC without layne. I wouldnt want layne, sean and mike to call themselves AIC if jerry was dead. i dont even view this current lineup as AIC. i view them more as the 3 surviving members of AIC jamming with william on some AIC classics.

THIS IS A BIG CHECK OFF OF MY LIST OF BANDS TO SEE BEFORE I DIE. I KNOW LAYNE (RIP) IS GONE, BUT HE IS STILL ALIVE WITH THE MUSIC HE MADE. I KNOW JERRY WOULDNT LET THIS GO ON IF LAYNE WASNT STILL THE MAIN DRIVING FORCE. SO SAY WHAT YOU WILL , ALICE IS BACK!!!!!!!!

Whatthefuckever........the remaining members of AIC have nothing but class wich is why they have chosen to tour in honor of Layne fucking Staley!!!!!!!

You may be referring to the PAGE/PlANT tours of 95 & 98 where they did play zep songs , but not under the banner of LED ZEPPELIN. So that can not be considered a reunion tour. It was unfortunate JONES was left out. There was a couple of one off performances under the banner of led zeppelin being Live Aid & the atlantic records celebration . There was never a full fledged nationwide tour like this though, all though you did make a valid point in some respect.

Alice in Chains have always been my favorite band ever since the first time I heard them back in 1993, but I really have no urge to see this particular version of AIC. Layne's voice was really the thing that connected me with AIC from the very beginning. If Layne had never been in Alice in Chains, they still would have been a great band. But Layne pushed them into a new territory of greatness. I've accepted the fact that Layne's dead and I'll never see Alice in Chains again. I really think that if I saw them with DuVall, it would just depress me, rather than amaze me. It would be one thing if they were playing under the name "Jerry Cantrell," but they really need to let the "Alice in Chains" name rest along with Layne.

It should be Jerry and Co....not AIC. Yes, Jerry was the driving force when it came to the music but you cannot replace Layne's voice. You simply cannot replace him and still call them Alice In Chains!

His heroin induced "pink cloud has now turned to gray" style of singing, his pitch, his looks, all of it completed AIC. Fucking sucks all the good musicians die off. Fucking smack.

You can listen to some of their music on Myspace and their website. They rock, that's the band that William Duvall is from. It's not like they just pulled some idiot in from the street (a la Judas Priest) Duvall has toured with Cantrell covering the vocals quite well for the past few years. I think it would have been disrespect if they got some dude who tried to sound just like Layne.

And I don’t see what the big fuss is over touring as AIC without Layne. If you remember, they weren’t able to tour with Layne when he was still alive (read: overwhelming disappointment of Candlebox replacing them as openers for Metallica).

This is not meant as disrespect to Layne either (RIP)—this is only coming from someone who never saw them live and is willing to settle for the next best thing.

I'll be going, never saw Cantrell or AIC play. Hopefully they play a big set, and hopefully DuVall doesn't suck, as I haven't been too impressed with the clips and footage I've seen of him so far. It'd be nice if they played some of Cantrell's solo stuff too.

Rooster, Them Bones, We Die Young, Would?, Dam that river, Heaven Beside You, Grind - All written by Jerry Cantrell. They couldn't even tour with Layne when he was alive because he was always such a wreck. Layne was a really good singer and wrote some good lyrics, but the band was basically jerry's to begin with. He was obviously the person in the band that kept them moving forward. I never got to see them play before, though they were my favorite band, and its good to hear them playing the songs. Duvall can sing.
