TOMMY BOLIN: 'Whips And Roses II' Collection Due In September - Aug. 12, 2006
According to Deep-Purple.net, the second of the planned series of Tommy Bolin (late DEEP PURPLE/JAMES GANG guitarist) CDs and DVD has been compiled by Johnnie Bolin (Tommy Bolin's brother/drummer) and producer Greg Hampton. Due late September, "Whips and Roses II" features four alternate tracks from "Teaser" ("Vol. 1" contained alternate takes of the other five cuts from the LP), plus material earmarked but not included and some extra material from the vaults, including two lengthy closing tracks which total over twenty minutes in length.

Tommy Bolin died of a heroin overdose December 4, 1976.

I own literally 50 CD's from this guy from the TB Archives, and I am sure I will piss more money on more outtakes from the Teaser album. I must have 10 different demo versions of the song The Grind but since I am a TB fanatic I guess this'll make version # 11.

tommy has been gone almost 30 years..... tommy was amazing on his own, with the james gang and deep purple. hes a true legand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Not as good as Blackmore but then few are. No denying he was a fine talent though. His work on Teaser and Come Taste The Band was superb.
