THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN Will Not Play Michigan's DIRT FEST - Aug. 14, 2006
Despite the promoters' announcement to the contrary, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN will **NOT** be performing at the Dirt Fest 2006, set to take place August 19 in Birch Run, Michigan. The group's official statement on the matter reads as follows:

"There has been a lot of confusion as to whether or not we are actually playing this fest coming up called Dirt Fest. Their website has us advertised as playing, ours does not, blah blah. WE ARE NOT PLAYING. We apologize to anyone who bought tickets just because they thought that we were playing, even though it is not our apology to give. We have never confirmed to play that show, and although we talked to the promoters about it, never signed a contract nor received any kind of agreement of any kind. One day after discussing it we were just announced as playing it. It is a pain in the ass for us to look like assholes now to people who have paid to see us thinking that we would be there, but again, it is not something we ever confirmed to play, and it was poor decision-making on their part to advertise us before confirming anything and at this point in the game is just plain old false advertising. Again, unfortunately, the person who is affected the most is the one who paid to see us play only to find out that we are not, and we apologize on behalf of all parties involved, regardless of who is at fault. Go and have a good time anyway, there are a bunch of bands playing, some of whom you should surely find to be decent if you don't like them already."

THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN recently released a digital-only EP, entitled "Plagiarism". The EP features "Unretrofied" (from "Miss Machine"), interpretations of NINE INCH NAILS' "Wish", MASSIVE ATTACK's "Angel", SOUNDGARDEN's "Jesus Christ Pose" and JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE's "Like I Love You", as well as previously unreleased live material. Many of these covers have been heard during the band's live sets over the past several years but remained unrecorded until this EP. "Plagiarism" is available exclusively via iTunes.

I agree, Dillanger sucks...

But Dillinger rules...

Brain Dead: Eh, it isn't for everyone. These guys aren't the most talented guys in the world, but they're fun to listen to.

COMMENT | Dillinger rules hands down

I find it funny that people that say that Dillinger suck when they them selves listen dogshit music, go figure. Dillinger are a band that are redefining what metal is about. Taking Grindcore, progressive rock and adding a hold new twist maybe people are just not ready for a band like Dillinger uhmmmm. Oh yeah Ben Weinman rules

Is AWESOME I recently saw them play a small club here in Houston on their way home from AFI tour - and not only did they rip the place up - but they hung out and talked with people after most of the crowd left. I spoke with Ben for a little bit about guitars and stuff - plus their singer was wearing a TESTAMENT shirt so major points for that! People always say this band is pretentious and stuck up but they acted like totally cool punk rock guys with no attitude whatsoever.

They took the high road with this douchebag promoter. They even still recommended the people go who had tickets instead of telling them to demand a refund. Probably more out of respect to the other bands.

Anyways.

To all that read this: Go fuck yourself.

before you make up your mind, go read the promoter's comments on this on the dirtfest site. it sounds to me like they are being made skapegoats for fans getting the shaft by the band. could be wrong but it sounds like they can actually back those claims up

The real reason DEP isn't playing the fest is because they suck, and the festival's organizers didn't want to be associated with them in any way.
