METALLICA: Video Of 'The Other New Song' Featuring Soundboard Audio Posted Online - Aug. 22, 2006
A soundboard-audio video clip of METALLICA performing a second new song — tentatively dubbed "The Other New Song" — during their headlining appearance on August 15 at Seoul Olympic Main Stadium in Seoul, South Korea has been posted online at YouTube.com.

METALLICA's setlist – August 15, 2006 at Seoul Olympic Main Stadium in Seoul, South Korea:

01. Creeping Death
02. Fuel
03. Wherever I May Roam
04. Harvester of Sorrow
05. Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
06. Frantic
07. The Unforgiven
08. For Whom The Bell Tolls
09. Orion
10. Master of Puppets
11. Fade To Black
12. Battery
- - - -
13. Sad But True
14. Nothing Else Matters
15. One
16. Enter Sandman
- - - -
17. The Other New Song
18. Seek and Destroy

A high-quality video clip of METALLICA performing the "first" new song during their headlining appearance at the Gelredome in Arnhem, Holland on June 8, 2006 as part of their recently completed "Escape From The Studio '06" European tour has been posted online at YouTube.com.

METALLICA is currently writing material for its ninth studio effort, which is tentatively expected in the summer or early fall of 2007. "I think we've realized that the creative process works a little slower for us than it used to, and we're OK with that," METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich recently told BBC Radio 1. "It's not a bad thing, unless, of course, you're waiting for a record."

Fast, yes, but not riffy enough. Didn't really have any guitar riffs that stood out. Well, untill about halfway through, and we get that cool-ass little thrashy thingie there.
To tell you the truth, i honestly enjoyed James' vocals on that song. Not Puppets, but not bad.
And Kirk's solos own. Fuck all of you who question his sexuality. He's fucked more women than anyone on this board are bound to (myself included).
And becides, that's a really lame way to insult someone.
Also: They should call this song "The Vulture". It just fits.

I haven't heard Kirk whiddly-whiddly like that since "...and Justice for All" - that's a good sign.

They will never go back to their 1989 pseudo-prog days.....they learned how to write commercial songs.....but it could still be good.

The only reason Slayer hasn't "sold out" and written more commercial shit is because THEY CAN'T......they would have gone down that same "sell out" road as Metallica, Anthrax and Megedeth if they had the ability........fuck the haters.

You dumb bastards, Metallica and all Thrash metal bands were influenced by Punk rock...just because punk rock is dead doesn't mean it wasn't important, I hate punk rock but there would be NO thrash metal without PUNK, this is Metallica going WAY back to their roots, like the Misfits and Motorhead like the guy above me said...this is the closest to Kill'em All that they have ever sounded...that being said I want more RIFFS!!! Metallica did a couple of years ago some ramones covers.. well they liked it! Cool let them be! And all the metal heads who think this is wrong.. You don't have to buy the new album. You all live in a free country and so does Metallica!! And for all the people who are still thinking that metallica is dead.. go to a concert of them and listen to all the oldies! Metallica is still playing for their fans!

i dont know this for sure, but i dont think the "WHOA" parts of the song will be there in the final cut. i know since the black album when the songs were just demos they would hum a lot since they didnt have any lyrics, i think james is just doing that WHOA to atleast get the melody down but eventual words should replace it

its a decent song, better than anything on st anger

Metallica should just release archived material from the past, every couple of years. That stuff would sell alot better, as there would be alot more interest in it. They must have tons of Demos, jam sessions, etc.

It would be cool to hear the jam sessions in which alot of their riffs were created.

Metallica may not be what it used to be, but a bands ability to change with the times and keep up with changes shows pure talent, you all bash them because of there new tastes in changing metallica, pantera split up because of musical differances and the ability to change, metal bands theses days are nu metal, they are not thrash, lamb of god and chimara are good but they ll never be metallica, you can hate metallica all you want, but nobody will ever surpass them;)

Better yet, that thrash itself is n.w.o.b metal mixed with punk?

Think twice before you post something as stupid as "Oh its too punk" Pretty killem all if you ask me. If I can remember right, the opening to moterbreath is a poster child of what a punk riff is.

The fact is, to say you dislike this song, yet like killem all is a fucking joke. Just because it wasn't made 20 years ago, doesn't make it less of a song.

Figured I'd say something.

The wooo yeahs are simply fillers for when the lyrics are finalized. These songs are hardly finished. Look at the 1st new song a month ago, and look at the 1st new song now with the improved vid/audio. The solo is better, parts are heavier, and the lyricss have improved. So get off your high chairs.
