Man Faces Murder Trial In KORN Concert Death

Bill Montgomery of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that a 25-year-old Douglas County man was bound over to Fulton Superior Court on felony murder and aggravated assault charges Tuesday in the death of an Atlanta man during a fight Aug. 1 at a KORN concert. Bond for Michael Scott Axley was set at $40,000, and Judge Richard Hicks ordered him to stay out of Fulton County except to visit his lawyer. Hicks also imposed a dusk curfew and said Axley could not consume alcohol while free on bond. The victim, 30-year-old Andy Richardson of Atlanta, was attending a concert by KORN at the HiFi Buys Ampitheater. Atlanta police homicide Detective Brett Zimbrick testified at the hearing that Richardson was knocked to the ground by a punch from Axley, fatally hit his head on the concrete floor at the former Lakewood Ampitheater and was punched twice more as he lay unconscious. Metal should be a brotherhood. You knock somebody down in the pit, help them up. Most people do go to have a good time but bad apples like this have to try to ruin it for all. This douche probably isn't even a fan, he was just there looking for shit to start. It's pretty sad.
I hope they throw his ass in a prison cell and have Paris Hilton and Kevin Ferderline music piped in 24/7.

The guy looks like a stroke, they should hang him by his nuts. This world is going down the tubes, you can't fly planes without having to be worried thats its going to be wrapped around a building, you can't have unprotected sex without worrying that you might get an STD, now you can't go to concerts anymore without having to worry about yourself getting killed or the people on stage getting killed, just to name a few examples...Fuckin sucks.

But then, if this serves as a reminder to the rest of us not to act like dickheads pretending we're tough, then so be it... let him henceforth be referred to by the name "suzie" by his new owner "bubba".
Violence may solve your own personal short term problems, but when you look at the wider picture it causes a lot more problems. Nobody. Think of how many people are affected by this. The victim, his family, friends, co-workers etc. & then the allegeged murderer, his family, friends, co-workers etc. Hundreds. What a waste. How many lives will never be the same?
If he can serve some time in prison, prove himself a model prisoner and then do something with his life in the outside world, maybe something positive can come of this.
Just a thought.

Punching someone twice more, most likely in the head/face, after hitting the ground (as in NOT fighting back), doesn't seem like someone who "didn't mean to kill".
I like the idea of cuffing the guy and tossing him into a pit. Let this be a lesson to all you fuckers who start pits with people who aren't interested in your bullshit. I'm all for pitting, being one who used to do it. Unfortunately I can't indulge at shows any more because of 3 vertebrae's i broke in a nasty car accident 2 years ago. It's really nerve-racking having to worry about some asshole coming up behind me and slamming into my back because he wants to start a pit with a group of people off to the side or in the back. Take it to the middle where the pit fucking belongs.

I don't remember reading about the two punches while unconscious in the original story a few weeks back, but it is a pretty pathetic thing to do. And yes I agree too with the idea of handcuffing him and throwing him into a mosh pit :-)
But look at the guy - he looks pretty thick, and was probably drunk off his ass, and felt the need to be tough in front of his friends, and didn't realise that someone hitting their head on concrete is capable of killing them. If murder was his intent, he probably would have used a weapon other than his fists. He probably just wanted to beat the guy up, and then some, but then I could be wrong.
I would *hope* there are very few people in this world that go around intending to murder someone, but then I suppose he could be so stupid that he was unable to understand the consequences of his actions.
That being said, yes he should be punished for being stupid and starting a fight which resulted in tragedy! Not sure about the death penalty - its not my decision and I don't have all the facts - but I certainly hope he goes to prison for a long time.
