AEROSMITH Bassist To Sit Out 'A Few Gigs' On 'The Route Of All Evil' Tour - Aug. 24, 2006
AEROSMITH bassist Tom Hamilton will be sitting out a few gigs at the beginning of the band's upcoming "The Route of All Evil" tour. Hamilton has just completed a seven-week course of radiation treatment for throat cancer. He will be with his family recovering and will join the tour in mid-October. He and his band mates look forward to his return. Filling in for Hamilton will be David Hull, a longtime friend of the band who played in the JOE PERRY PROJECT.

Billboard.com reported earlier today that AEROSMITH plans to release a best-of, "Devil's Got a New Disguise", Oct. 10 via Columbia, in the midst of its fall tour with MÖTLEY CRÜE.

"We were working on getting a studio record out, but we just couldn't do it. There wasn't enough time," guitarist Joe Perry told Billboard.com, calling the hits set "a good holdover."

"Devil's Got a New Disguise" takes its title from one of two new songs that will be included on the 16-track album. Perry described it as "a classic AEROSMITH rocker," while the other fresh track, "Sedona Sunrise", has been around for awhile and was considered for other AEROSMITH albums. "We felt like it really had to come out," Perry said.

Give the guy a break, he just had a bout with cancer. Cancer has nothing to do with age!

No, and actually, age has nothing to do with being able to make gigs, either. A 25 year old isn't going to be making gigs if he has to deal with chemo.

David Hull is a fucking witch.

He was awesome on the JPP albums and I saw his band, Dirty Angels open up for Aerosmith on the "Night in the Ruts" tour when they rolled through Baton Rouge.

BUZZ BUZZ!!!

Tom Hamilton's the coolest one of them. I'd hate to go see Aerosmith and find out Tom's not there.

Their last album sucked, they keep "pump"ing out these hits records...come on Tyler and Perry, it's time to call this the farewell tour and give it a rest. No disrespect here, they've earned a rest.

Great bass player. I highly recommend the first two Joe Perry Project cd's- Let The Music Do The Talking, and I've Got The Rock And Rolls Again. Get Well Tom, soon.

If Steven Tyler gets throat cancer....we'll know how he got it! From singing in that shit-awful high voice, scream of his!
