IRON MAIDEN: More 'Benjamin Breeg' First-Week Chart Positions Revealed

IRON MAIDEN's new single, "The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg", has achieved the following first-week positions in Europe: Finland: #1 Sweden: #1 Spain: #1 Norway: #9 Canada: #10 Ireland: #18 Germany: #43 Switzerland: #78 As previously reported, IRON MAIDEN's video for "The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg" has been made available for streaming at YouTube.com. Kerrang! magazine has previously described "The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg" as "an intricate seven-minute epic that starts with a creepy, ominous intro before erupting into a crushing, almost LED ZEPPELIN-esque riff and a powerful, emotive chorus. More obtuse lyrically than most of the album, it's a curious, challenging choice for a single." "It's very different for us," admitted the band's bassist, Steve Harris. "It's very riffy. The intro has an almost nursery rhyme eeriness. Sometimes you try to create a mood and sometimes it's just there. Everyone's going to ask who Benjamin Breeg is, but you'll just have to find out for yourself!" "A Matter of Life and Death" was recorded at Sarm West Studios in London with producer Kevin Shirley, who also worked on the last two MAIDEN albums, 2000's "Brave New World" and 2003's "Dance of Death". The CD is scheduled for release on September 5 via Sanctuary Records.

16/10/2006 CANADA - Toronto, ON - Air Canada Centre
Along with 7 dates in the US so I don`t see what the problem is really. I`ve flown from the UK to Germany to see bands before, you can`t always expect a band to come to your doorstep.

Oh, and Dude, Its a hell of alot longer Flight from Vancouver to Toronto than it is from The UK to Germany. Im sure I dont need to remind you that Canada is fucking HUGE.

I think its like a 7 Houer flight from Vancouver to Halifax Isnt it?
I only made that trip once, and it was years and years ago, so I dont quite remeber.
Also, dont you have to go through like 4 differant time zones?
plus, there is no Seattle date either, so I cant even drive south of the border to see 'em unless I wanna goto Ervine CA.
and thats way too far, I cant get the time off work for that...

Yes, you do have to go through 4 different time zones. I made the trip from Halifax to Vancouver several years ago.
By the way, I'm very surprised: I'm actually closer to a venue than you are! Who would have thought that, prior to releasing the dates?

He doesn't give a fuck about America for good reasons, the countries fucked, I'm from Aus and I'd take Englands side over America any day, He is loyal to the country he's born in, unlike some Australian acts that have now moved to America for the $$$, Unfortunatly, not for the fans.

I wished they would play in the outhern US. I dont mind traveling to see them, not at all. I would gladly go to Texas or Florida to see them. But the northeast is to far to go. Better add some more tour dates mate!

To the non-American fans that come here: Man, I'm sorry about some of the idiots that post on this site. I'm an American fan that respects the history of metal, doesn't trash people because they don't live in the same country,(so fucking pathetic) doesn't have any illusions about how hype driven most of Americans are, and can look at the whole thing in a realistic way. I think most American metal fans are like that too, but unfortunatly, as it is in my cases, dumb people talk(and type) more. Thats where all these narrow minded, nationalistic posts are coming from. I'm a Canadian who respects the history of U.S metal. There are too many US bands from the past that rectify the sad state Us metal is in today.
IMO: THE BRITS AND THE USA HAVE PRODUCED THE BEST BANDS OF ALL TIME--IN ANY GENRE. PROBLEM IS, IS THAT METAL HAS BEEN ON THE DECLINE FOR YEARS NOW, AND WILL ONLY GET WORSE imo.

it was brave new world that rekindled my interest in these guys. i'll never forget the first time i heard 'ghost of navigator' and the title track. Bruce's vocals were in incredible on 'ghost navigator'. not to mention the cover art is beautiful. the cover itself is enough to grab my attention.
