FECAL CORPSE: Too 'Offensive' For Canada

New York City death metallers FECAL CORPSE were apparently turned away at the Canadian border after attempting to enter the country to play a couple of shows. In its latest MySpace bulletin, the band writes, "So we get to the border and they're denying us entry because we didn't have work visas and tried to get in. So we got threatened with three weeks of jail time per member plus fines. So after six hours of interrogation, they decide to let us go because it's 'not worth the time.' The fucking police said to let us go, the border patrol wanted to press charges. Now, we're all not allowed in Canada for one year's time and our merchandise is BANNED from Canada because it's deemed 'offensive.'"
FECAL CORPSE's full-length debut, "We Gang-Banged Your Mom...Again!" was released earlier in the year via Redrum Records.

And you have no idea what talent is if you say he is a "fucking joke".
He is one of the best slide guitar players alive (or ever)
and he is on the short list of Amazing young guitarist.
Oh, and he must be doing Something right if Eric Clapton hired him on as a guitar player on his current World tour. Also, Axl Rose tried to get him to join the Axl Rose Band.

I haven't heard this band but I just know they suck. When dreaming up a band name, omit "corpse" and (and "morbid" while I'm at it)--those two words are already associated with world-class bands. Besides, what the fuck does Fecal Coprse even mean? A corpse that shits all the time? A corpse made of shit?

They got turned away because of the visas, plain and simple. American ands who travel to Canada often know how things are to be done.
First timers should contact the Canadian consulate (see: http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca ) to first check there won't be a problem with getting across the border due to any background checks which may occur, when first CONSIDERING getting shows booked out there. If the drummer has a felony on him, that might come up! That's where the band finds out about the proper visas and whatnot.
Then, lots of paperwork should be drawn up, including an itinerary of where the bands will be performing and whatnot. That occurs immediately after booking, a good month or two ahead of time. A FULL, itemized laundry list of every single item should then be written up, because it will help deter the border patrol from making the band open up the truck and trailer and having everything on the side of the road!
Also, if the band is bringing merch with them, they should be aware there will be heavy taxes put on any and all sales made. However, if their products were made in Canada, then that won't happen. What some bands do to get around this is mail themselves merch ahead of time to a trustworthy Canadian relative/friend/street teamer, then mail the rest back home afterwards. Not exactly legal, but I've heard it's fairly common.
Finally, the band trying to get across the border should allow themselves an extra day, just in case there is /still/ a holdup, especially in these post-9/11 times. That gives the band a day to grab a hotel room on the border, figure out what they're going to do, regroup and move on.
Usually, getting into Canada, with all the paperwork in hand, is fairly easy. The first time around, the border patrol will snap pics of the members and keep them on file. Any future crossings wind up being that much easier, beause they've already "been there, done that", and with a quick pop-up of their digital file, the band gets waved through, with not so much as a few seconds flipping through the itinerary and the aforementioned laundry list.
My guess is: Fecal Corpse had none of this done.

With a statement like that I am beginning to wonder if you have seen Derek trucks live at all. He doesnt just play slide, he does a combination of both.
And seing as though you claim to play guitar, then I probably wont need to tell you that most guitar players will say that the Slide is one of the most difficult techniques to master.

With no work visas, even Barry Manilow's not getting into Canada. I doubt that this band is big enough to be on the Canadian government's radar, and if they had done their homework and arranged the proper paperwork they no doubt would have made it through, as many other grind/gore bands have. And if their merch was discovered at the border, and then deemed offensive right there on the spot, then I think that Canada needs to learn a little about due process.
The smartest thing a band can do is to have their paperwork in order, and have somebody in the country they are going to make shirts for them there, so they don't have to deal with the border BS(even if these guys had made it through, they still would have had to pay duty on all merch they were planning to sell if the border guards found it during the inspection).
I suspect they'll be better prepared next time they try to go to the great white north....

Am I the only one who actually listened to the band rather than just comment on the pictures???
They ain't bad at all. Got a nice old school death metal sound, raw and brutal....Some of it reminds me a bit of older Internal Bleeding.
I'll take this over half the over-rated/overhyped bullshit on here any day.
