Original JUDAS PRIEST Singer AL ATKINS: Video Interview Posted Online - Aug. 28, 2006
A nine-minute video interview with original JUDAS PRIEST frontman Al Atkins has been posted online at Guitarist TV (click on "G-TV Interviews").

As previously reported, Atkins recently released a new promotional DVD. Produced by Mpeguk Ltd, the set (released on DVD-R) includes music videos of three selected tracks off his new CD, "Demon Deceiver - The Sin Sessions": the title track, "Demon Deceiver", "Cradle to the Grave" and the JUDAS PRIEST classic "Victim of Changes". The musicians include Johnson, Emms, Mike De Jager (DANTE FOX), BUDGIE guitarist Simon Lees, and drummers Mick Hales and Adrian Badlands. The videos include footage shot during the recording of the tracks at MAGNUM's Madhat Studios, JB's Live Music Venue and during Al's tour of the U.S. Check out sample clips at www.mpeguk.com.

Al has recorded "Victim of Changes" three times on different albums over the last 15 years since he turned solo. "This time it's a much shorter and faster version than before. It's fucking awesome," Atkins said. Also appearing on the album is a song called "Drown", which is said to be a duet between Al and Kansas-based vocalist/guitarist Johnny Lokke.

milking 'Victim of changes' for what it's worth...

Hey Al, it's been 15 years - how about Re-re-re-RE-recording that song one more time?

Al Atkins - Paul Di'Anno - Neil Turbin... fucking get over it already;
You were all kicked out for a reason, OK?

I own one of them, the one he did with Dave Holland, it's not half-bad. It's obvious Priest would have never achieved what they did with him, but that's no reason to make fun.

By the way, not 15 years. He formed Judas Priest in 1969. Try some remedial math courses dude.

I don't think that there's ever been a news article or blog about Al, where they didn't have to add in the title "Original Judas Priest vocalist". Does this guy have any identity of his own? He's a good vocalist and has had some decent music, but you'd think he'd get sick of riding the JP coat tails and the 14.3 seconds of fame he achieved from it...

Al certainly was a victim of changes ... that happened in 1973. Get over it.

I tend to agree with those who say who cares what the guy has been up to. Its as relevant to Metal and Hard Rock history as information on what the ACDC singer, before Bon Scott is up to. Yes you were an original member, but no recordings with the band as a signed act exist (to my knowledge) and the level of interest is minute if even that. I also agree that DiAnno should not be lumped into this category, as his contributions to Metal still resonate today.

'Original' means the guy wasn't good enough to be allowed to continue with the band.

Check out this numbskulls website. It screams, "Old Men Trying To Recapture Their Youth". All these guys have "day-job haircuts", in each picture they have this "we rock" look on their faces, each picture they are wearing sunglasses, they each are wearing some form of leather product (probably belonging to the photographer. One picture has a guy wearing a baseball backwards.
These clowns need to be on www.rockconfidential.com

Insert "hat" after baseball. I was laughing so hard, I couldn't type very well.
