MIKE PATTON Hates WOLFMOTHER: Video Available

MJI Interactive reports: WOLFMOTHER have won over lots of new fans this year, but apparently Mike Patton isn't one of them. "Are you hearing this shit?" the former FAITH NO MORE singer exclaimed while listening to the band during an interview held backstage at this year's Lollapalooza festival. "Forgive me, but WOLFMOTHER, you suck! Enough already." Watch video of the interview at this location. As previously reported, Patton's band PEEPING TOM performed at Central Park Summer Stage on August 17 in New York City. Watch video clips from YouTube.com. PEEPING TOM will open for THE WHO on seven East Coast dates in early September. PEEPING TOM's self-titled debut album was released on May 30 via the Ipecac label. The CD features Patton alongside a slew of collaborators, such as British trip-hop group MASSIVE ATTACK, rapper Kool Keith, human beatbox Rhazel and Grammy-winning singer Norah Jones.

one of my friends had one of Pattons cds playing the other day. dont know which one it was, theres too many to even care about. all i heard was a bunch of random instruments not even sounding like they're playing the same song, plus Mike just screaming and making retarded noises

I used to dig FNM and Mr. Bungle back in the day. But Patton should really listen to his recent offerings before commenting on other bands. Tomahawk anybody? That was some of the worst shit to ever be recorded. Peeping Tom? A close second. And if you just commenting and didn't watch the video -- Wolfmother in the background (playing live I might add), sound fantastic. Patton is hit and miss at best live. He is still riding on the FNM cotails from what, 20 years ago now. Always trying to be inventive doesn't always translate to good.
None of you little kids here are going to like Wolfmother, wouldn't expect that (they have a singer you can understand that doesn't suck), hell, don't expect you to like Patton's stuff. But don't be ragging on "retro" because half of the death and black metal you like sounds just like it did in the beginning and is not evolving. So be real.

Wolfmother (and even Trivium) are great bands and a lot better than the gay radio rock and pop rock --- Hell, even RHCP (Red Hot Chili Peppers) suck more dicks nowadays, well since their last good record (Blood Sugar Sex Magic).

that band wolfmother....dude there was one robert plant stop trying to be him....they are one hit wonders...mike looked like he was three sheets to the wind...go and do another faith no more album...they are one of the most original bands ever....if you never got to see faith no more live... i seen them one time in a 500 cap. club.....one of the best shows i have been to.....and i tell you i wanna throw up everytime i hear that women song too....

I think Mike Patton just needs someone new to pick on since the Red Hot Silly Peppers has Patton kicked off of festivals for talking shit......don't get me wrong, it's entertaining when he does that and I like most of his projects, but he just sounds like a bitter old queen.......

We need more musicians to do that during interviews.
people say that Patton peaked with FNM and Mr. Bungle... i disagree. Patton wants to evolve as a musician and songwritter. is he doing rock music now? not so much. but he wants to try other stuff and i think it's great. instead of treading on old grounds, he's moving forward and evolving. Wolfmother are just a cheap throwback to Led Zeppelin and are failing at making it interesting.

I don't think this was meant to be taken all that seriously. However he is right. So many other bands have been doing this for so long and the whole retro trend is really getting old. Not that there is anything wrong with music like Wolfmother, but come on. There are so many other bands that do it so much better, and do it originally without sounding like a rip-off of zeppelin or sabbath. Monster Magnet, Kyuss/Queens of the stone age, Sleep/High on fire, Electric Wizard, Clutch, and hundreds more. Check out southern lord records www.southernlord.com or anything labeled as stoner metal or doom metal.

I totally love Kyuss or Monster Magnet or Nebula or The Sword or Spiritual Beggars, but all of them are Sabbath rip-off as much as Wolfmother are.
And while Wolfmother will never be the greatest band on earth, they're a good one, and they give a good show. They have fun.
This is not retro-rock. This is just rock.
And bands like FNM almost killed rock.

The other songs outside of "Woman" kinda push Wolfmother dangerously close to sounding like the White Stripes.
That said, Mike Patton hasn't put out very much that's been remotely listenable in a decade that wasn't Faith No More in my honest opinion.

Just another disposable pop band cashing in and diluting the sound of 70's heavyweights Purple, Sabbath & Zeppelin; all of which I'd rather listen to anyway.
The Grammy's are just a superficial token gesture, firmly fixed on politics and fad voting. They certainly don't reflect a band's true standing in terms of unit sales or actual fan based popularity within the community.
If there is going to be any credence given at all to the "Best Hard Rock Performance" category , then it should have gone to any of the other worthy contenders.
Other artists that could have been on that list include: Muse, The Porcupine Tree & Rush.

Atm, stoner rock is the polite, acceptable, watered-down version of heavy metal. It's what indie rock nerd trust fund kids listen to when they go slumming. It makes 'em feel "ironic." They go see Wolfmother and say to each other "I'm like, soo scene. ke ke ke."
You know, those guys with big black plug earrings and lip studs who take cameraphone pictures of themselves at the Wolfmother gig. In another year the scene kids will abondon them just like they did the Strokes. Ke ke ke.
