Ex-MANOWAR Guitarist To 'Close Down' Legendary New York City Venues - Sep. 3, 2006
Former MANOWAR guitarist Ross The Boss will help "close down" two legendary New York City venues this fall. For two special shows fans will get to see an almost-all-THE DICTATORS reunion (and/or MANITOBA'S WILD KINGDOM) with living legends:

Handsome Dick Manitoba (THE DICTATORS, MANITOBA'S WILD KINGDOM)
Ross The Boss (THE DICTATORS, MANOWAR, MANITOBA'S WILD KINGDOM, THUNDERBOSS)
JP Thunderbolt Patterson (THE DICTATORS, MANITOBA'S WILD KINGDOM, THUNDERBOSS)
Dean Rispler (MURPHY'S LAW, THUNDERBOSS)

The dates are as follows:

Sep. 17 - New York City, NY @ The Continental
Oct. 06 - New York City, NY @ CBGB

Commented Ross The Boss: "I'm going to be doing those shows at The Continental and CBGB — two great small intimate venues that have always been been artist-friendly!!!! I am personally quite upset that they are closing!!! Live music and bands must have places to be seen and grow!!! This is very upsetting!!!

"But anyway, I'm looking forward to playing with part of THE DICTATORS. I wish it was the whole band but I'll take it!! Also, I would like to invite everyone to the THUNDERBOSS record release party Sept. 12 at Billy Mark's.

"Rock and roll made a man out of me took a while for the whole world to see!! It's like a magic spell, can't you tell????"

(Thanks: DawnOwar)

There is now mystisism in metal anymore, anyband can do what they want pretty much to there sound in the studio...I think the internet may have ruined the appeal to metal. I would never say metal is dead, but alot more people are board with it these days...that being said there is no mass alliences to keep alive these historic venues, nobdy fucking cares, is live music dead? what the fuck is going on!

Ross rules!

Not suggesting that it was all down to him but after he left Manowar, all they deliver is shit! And Joey is a mongoloid megalomaniac who´ve lost all touch with reality!

The Dictators are absolutely phenomenal, and I will definately be at both of these shows. I live in the East Village and yet have never been to either of these venues because they always book garbage bands, but THIS will finally get me to go to both of them. Handsome Dick Manitoba is the greatest rock & roll frontman you have never heard of, and Ross The Boss is pure metal on guitar. Seriously folks, if you want to actually have FUN (remember that?) at a concert while still rocking your ass off you owe it to yourself to see The Dictators (or most of them, as is the case here).

ross is right for many reasons but the thing that kills me about this is with the exception of just two or three cool record shops left the village will be dead to yuppie scum soon. god what a paradise it was when i started hangin out there in the early 80s. i was in washington sq park a few months ago last, not one pot dealer, not one scateboarder and not one punk or metalhead to be seen just yuppies and the sadest sight was when i went back through around 11 pm when it was dark there where people reading books under the park lamposts by the benches man all the partying and rock n roll debouchery that once took place there it was a sad sight and the end of an era as i knew once knew it.................

CBGBs and The Continental are in the East Village. You don't go to Greenwich Village and Washington Square Park looking for punks and metalheads, you go there looking for college girls and hippies. If you want punks, metalheads, dive bars, and rock clubs you go to the East Village and hang out with the weirdos in Tompkins Square Park.

Although the East Village is becoming gentrified too, but not nearly as bad as the NYU-ization of Greenwich Village.

tompinks sq was great to but it was more for junkies ( heroin addicts) and yeah a lot of punks but few metalheads. i dont know how old you are but in 1985 when i started kickin around washington sq it was full of punks metalheads and yes hippies and other types. the only thing that did not go down in washington sq was heroin, if that was your thing you went to the east village ( aka ave c tompkins sq) im telling you no lie 20 + years ago that park was like woodstock with a big group mixture and nobody fucked with nobody it was great now both the east and west village are saturated with yuppies, all you got now in tompkins sq is some homeless and some of those 15 year old run aways that think crass and being vegan is still cool, they will be fuckin stockbrokers in 10 years. just like all the ones that i knew 20 years ago and if they didnt take that route THEY ARE DEAD NOW....................
