WHITESNAKE: No U.S. Deal In Place For Upcoming Live Album - Sep. 5, 2006
WHITESNAKE has yet to secure a U.S. deal for its upcoming double live album, "Live ... In The Shadow Of The Blues", which is scheduled to receive a European release in November via Steamhammer/SPV.

Commented WHITESNAKE frontman David Coverdale in a posting on his official web site: "No U.S. release planned at this time, unfortunately (can you say Amazon???). But I promise we are focused and doing our best to secure a release in ALL territories/countries as soon as is possible. It's just the momentum of working Europe so strongly this year escalated putting the deal together there rather quickly. But I hold the faith all will be as it is supposed to be."

"Live ... In The Shadow Of The Blues" includes almost all the remarkable hits from WHITESNAKE's career, as well as two timeless DEEP PURPLE classics in "Burn" and "Stormbringer". David Coverdale was the frontman of the legendary British act between 1973 and 1976, making a significant contribution to numerous PURPLE highlights during this era. "Live ... In The Shadow Of The Blues" also includes four previously unreleased tracks in "Ready To Rock", "If You Want Me (I'll Come Running)", "All I Want Is You" and "Dog", eagerly awaited by all WHITESNAKE fans. The strictly limited version of the double album will be available in a top-quality digipack, featuring a number of surprises, among them the bonus track "Crying In The Rain", including a haunting drum solo by drum legend Tommy Aldridge.

America's idea of "metal" sucks. And I live here!! Every fuckin time I want an album, I have to order the damn thing from overseas. How lame is that. Time to move to Europe.

I might buy it just for the Tommy Aldridge drum solo, what a fuckin' badass.

I saw this lineup live and its a strong one.

I have a feeling the vocals will be doctored, though.

They just brought out a live dvd which had a bonus live CD with it. They were a great band in their day and did some great tracks but I seriously doubt they have anything interesting to add to todays metal scene.

This is a non-starter...which would have been great 15 years ago but is now antiquated

COMMENT | Not really that big of a deal

Usually the European or Japanese pressings have a little bit more, whether it's extra tracks or better packaging. Even if we did get a US release, it probably would be out weeks (or months) after the Euro release. It still would be nice to show the band some US support so they could tour here and all. I'll get it off of amazon or ebay when it comes out.
