Paul Gilbert recently released his new all-guitar instrumental CD, entitled "Get Out Of My Yard". He commented, "There is more concentrated guitar power on this CD than any I have done. More screaming solos, more thunderous riffs, more wall-shaking chords, more imagination, more passion, more, more, more!
"'Get Out Of My Yard' was recorded in Los Angeles. I played electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and bass. Jeff Bowders played drums. Mike Szuter played bass on tracks 8, 10, and 11. My wife Emi played piano on track 6 and Hammond organ on track 8. Tom Size engineered and mixed.
"The first 38 seconds of 'Get Out Of My Yard' are impossible to play. But I played them.'
Gilbert recently teamed up with DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy, Billy Sheehan (MR. BIG, DAVID LEE ROTH, TALAS) and Gary Cherone (VAN HALEN, EXTREME) to pay tribute to THE WHO by playing three very special shows across America.

Struan.. If your referring to the way he phrased that, He meant that it was incredibly hard to get the fingerings correct. First you should note that he pretty much can play in any position and do strectches with ease that --make guitar players like myself look like hacks. Secondly...If he wrote the parts out from his head and then tried to execute them, it in some cases can be very very very very very very very hard to actually play them. Connecting phrases and notes sometimes are great in your head, when you write them out actually they are 'Impossible' to play... and thats what he meant. And when a person like paul says something was hard for him... people like me and you and probably 99.5% of the worlds population should bow down and bask in the infernal neon fireball that he has given us as a musician.
Anyone want to elaborate further?

What Paul meant was, the first 38 seconds are impossible to play on a regularly tuned guitar. He recorded it with a a human capo and a 3-string guitar. Each string tuned to E (over 3 different octaves) and it sounds pretty fucking cool if you axe me. The highlight of the CD, unfortunately.....

For clarifying further. I didnt even hear it until after I posted, and I did sorry to say, DL a few songs, had to get a fix. That is some sick ass playing. I had no clue how he did that. I know he can shred and make it sound sort of like that, but those notes played the way he did really blew me out of the water. Yeah the songs I Dled are good, a lot of atmosphere on some and some brilliant playing. I did pick up spaceship one for the hell of it, I enjoy the serious songwriting, and I like it alot. Its not Racer X but then again..its the most diverse stuff Ive heard in a while. His styles change like with a flick of the switch.Anyway... I suppose I should be doing work or something like that lol.
