VINNIE PAUL's New Band Has A Name: HELLYEAH - Oct. 31, 2006
Former PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott has confirmed that his new band with members of MUDVAYNE and NOTHINGFACE has been officially dubbed HELLYEAH. The group has been writing and recording material in Dallas, Texas for what will eventually become its debut album, tentatively due in March 2007.

HELLYEAH lineup is as follows:

Chad Gray (MUDVAYNE) - Vocals
Greg Tribbett (MUDVAYNE) - Guitar
Tom Maxwell (NOTHINGFACE) - Guitar
Jerry Montano (DANZIG, NOTHINGFACE) - Bass
Vinnie Paul Abbott (PANTERA, DAMAGEPLAN) - Drums

A headlining tour is tentatively expected to take place beginning in March, although this has yet to be officially confirmed.

In a June 2006 interview with the Fort Worth Weekly, Vinnie Paul spoke briefly about the new group, stating, "I have been working with different people, and I really can't tell you who they are right now because we're in the middle of everything. . . The more and more I go along, the more I miss playing, but it's all been part of the healing process, and time is truth. And if [the playing] I am [doing] right now becomes the real deal, then I will get back to it very soon."

It should be noted that the new project's existence will not affect the status of MUDVAYNE, who have spent the past few weeks writing material for their fourth album.

I bet this will sound kinda like Pantera! Early Mudvayne did, like "Dig" and other songs, Chad sounds a little Anselmo-ish sometimes.

This is going to be good!

I'll give this a chance since Vin's involved. If I don't care for it, I'll just continue to enjoy my Pantera, Damageplan, and Rebel Meets Rebel discs. It's good to see Vin starting to get back into playing again. I honestly don't care who it's with. If it can help him to heal after what happened I'm all for it.

He's worked with Phil Anselmo all those years, so I see nothing wrong with this. Plus, Vinnie's back doing what he loves to do so it should be interesting to hear what they come up with.

I'm stoked to hear what this will sound like. Chad's got some cool ass vox so I don't think it'll be bad. I think it will be heavy but with a cool rock or southern type vibe. If it sucks, that's too bad but either way good to see him back behind the kit doing what he loves.

Chad is a whiney vocalist and the guitarist of Mudpenis is terrible. Those 2 are the weekest links in Mudvayne, and you can hear the drummer and bass player trying to make good music, but getting clubbered by these 2 untalented ass monkeys. I hope Vin knows what he's doing.

Didn't Mudvayne and Nothingface have their peaks in the late 90s?

I dunno, really I've always found mudvaynes vocals thin, lame, and becoming dated. Definitely wouldn't be my choice of bandmates.

Cant wait to hear this, i kinda knew it would receive mixed views which is fair but people who are just straight up bashing on Mudvayne and Nothingface really should wait to hear this before judging.

Im a big fan of Mudvayne, i love everything theyve done pretty much. Chad Gray certainly doesnt have the screaming ability he did on LD50 and The End of all things ', but, they still write some awesome stuff and he can sing so well.

Gregg T is actually a very good guitar player, if anyone has taken the time to actually listen to what he does, it fits the music perfectly. Just because he doesnt play ultra fast rhythms and "blistering" solos doesnt make him a bad musician. I hate the way most metal fans are so one dimensional when it comes to judging musicmanship. People can have opinions yes but if you dont actually have any kind of intelligent debate to back it up then keep it to yourself.

Nothingface are also a good band and in general the lineup here is very strong. Each member has their own highly appealing creative element that has the potential to create some kick ass music.

Yes, the drummer and bassist from Mudvayne is awesome, but so is Chad and Greg. I Know. If you don't believe it, then go buy the dvd where they play in Peroia, Ill.
That will show how badass they are. Greg can play the guitar, and like a motherfucker too. Don't get me wrong, DImebag is a better guitar player than Greg, but Greg is badass also. I know, yet again, I'm a guitar player and have tried to play both of their music and guess what, I've learned more of Dimebag's than I have of Greg's and I've been a Mudvayne fan since the beginning. I've played the guitar since I could pick one up and I Know that if you can't play something, than it's good or hard. And Greg's riffs are hard.
The only person's comment that was right so far that I have read was mediazero's. Yes, Mudvayne's new stuff isn't as good as their old, but when Mudvayne became famous....they were just as badass as Pantera. Both bands had their own sound and Mudvayne was the heaviest thing since Pantera, so by putting both of the bands together, than it will rule all. And I know you all will down this, but I don't care, because when it comes out and you hear it on the radio and say to yourselfs,"WOW, those guys are fucking awesome, who are they?" I'll be here saying, HELL YEAH.

P.S. Jimi Hendrix was the best guitarist in the world and will always be, HE IS GOD!!!!
