VAN HALEN To Tour Next Summer

G4's TheFeed reports that Eddie Van Halen's spokesperson Janie Liszewski has revealed that VAN HALEN is currently writing and rehearsing for a summer 2007 tour. In addition, Liszewski has confirmed that Eddie's son Wolfgang has officially been named the new bassist in the band. "Yes, I can confirm this story in the respect of Wolfgang being the new bass player for the band and yes he has been in the studio with his dad and uncle rehearsing and writing for an upcoming summer 2007 tour," Liszewski exclusively told TheFeed about the article that was first posted on TMZ.com last week. " Wolfgang most certainly has inherited the Van Halen musical genius gene. At 15 years of age his knowledge, understanding, skill, and command of multiple instruments is impressive." When asked about the rumor that the VAN HALEN boys will enlist original VH singer David Lee Roth into the fold for this tour, Liszewski said, "There has been no confirmation that David Lee Roth will be touring this coming summer." Liszewski also confirmed what Eddie announced on "The Howard Stern Show" in September — that Michael Anthony is definitely no longer in VAN HALEN.

It dont suprise me that Eddie gave Michael Anthony the boot. So whos it gonna be? Just Ed,Wolfgang and Alex LMAO!! I'll bet $100 that Dave wont tour with them. And I'll bet $200 that VH will never record any other material with ANY singer. Their all done. Its to late. Eddie is burnt and so is Dave. Dave stay solo and Eddie call it a day. Its not 1984.

For them to even attempt a "reunion" without Mike Anthony is laughable. His bass can be replaced, yes, but his backing vocals are as much a part of the VH sound as Eddie's guitar. Probably even more so than AVH's drums.
That being said, I'm definitely going to catch this! Always said that if DLR was back with Ed I'd go see it...just didn't expect to be mid-30's by the time it materialized.

...was to suggest the band name change to van halen from mammoth... when they found out that they couldn't use mammoth, they should've found another one...
that said, with no michael anthony, who's going to get excited to listen to some teen do his parts? early vh fans are in their 30s and 40s now... wolfie doesn't cut it... is he going to be running across the stage with jack daniels bass?

If you can't get over the fact that the person playing bass is 15, that's sad for you, not for them. Also, come on, how crucial can anybody's backing vocals be. It sounds like more of an excuse then a legitimate concern.

Let the record show that Hecatombmi and cracked-clavicle are both 15 years old. That's why they can actually picture a crack induced line up such as Alex, Edward and WOLFGANG!
Give me a fucking break! If you can't aknowledge that MA's vocals are a crucial part of the Van Halen sound then you haven't been listening long enough and your prepubescent opinion is worthless. And MA's bass playing gets the job done, Steve Harris he is not but who the fuck cares?

The ONLY way this band will ever make any money is to get the ORIGINAL 4 back together for a tour. Seperate Busses, Seperate Hotels, Seperate Dressing Rooms... and maybe they'd pull it off

Failsafe, you're the reasons bands trot out pathetic cover band versions of themselves. You've got EVH, a shell of his former self, his 15 year old son and the utterly nondescript drumming of Alex Van Halen. DLR, Ed in his prime and Michael Anthony's backing vocals WERE Van Halen. What you'll see on this show is one of three key components and his skills are a shadow of their former selves.

I like stuff from all three Van Halen singers, but Van Halen without Michael Anthony seems wrong. His background vocals have proven to be more important to the 'Van Halen sound' than the lead singers' voices.

It's official...Van Halen is no more!!!
This is the most ridiculous news I have ever heard. Not only will this "tour" not hit the streets, it probably won't even leave the VH garage. Eddie has finally lost it.
This tour will be the train-wreck of 2007 and will make less $$ than the previous VH tour. Granted, Wolfie may be a good musician, but this is no way to treat your fans Eddie. You know what they want. They want the original 4. Not some "family get together".
Come on Edwardo...sober up and get your shit together. Get one of your pornstar bitches to babysit Wolfie while you do the right thing (even though we know it wont happen).

1) I read a post about instrumentals above, I'd believe that seeing as how insane this idea is to begin with. They may just decide that they don't need a singer just like eddie doesn't need a tongue, or a hip. And frankly, I hope DLR passes.
2) It can't be called a "reunion" without the original 4, or maybe the second 4. Granted, DLR has a few screws loose, but not enough to join this family circus. If he does, well...he'd certainly be the perfect ringmaster, but I wouldn't buy into it at all.
3) Goodbye, Van Halen.

This is terrible.
Eddie's kid taking over on the bass???
One of the highlights of a VH show was ULTRA BASS and for that you need 2 people, Mike Anthony and Mr Jack Daniel.
I hope David Lee Roth doesn't join up with Eddie, Alex and Wolfgang van halen, I hope DLR has got some pride.
In my honest opinion, VH has proven how shit they are without Roth and without Hagar, so why bother carrying on.

His b-vocals are unique/great and let's not forget he did a great job singing the 'Doctor' song this last tour! Let's hope MA lands a spot in a better band, though he belongs in VH. Sammy solo just don't do it for me.
I do however feel Wolfie could get in good physical shape, as Heart Disease' (& cancer) don't discriminate. Maybe in a couple yrs he'll get 'educated' about health issues as well (though not necessarily at home).

I don't see what's so BAD about MA's bass playing. I always thought he seemed pretty solid. You don't have to always be flashy, that's not the point of bass anyway. Seeing Van Halen again, even with DLR, will be bittersweet without MA. It's like seeing Alice in Chains without Layne. Sometimes, it's just best to have the original lineup, even if it's in the case of a bassist or drummer.

I definitely won't see this. I saw them on the last tour and the only ones who delivered were Sammy and Mike. Who the hell is going to do back up vocals? Michael Anthony not only provided simple, yet solid basslines, but he is pretty much the king of high pitched background vocals.

I am 31 years old and have got all the VH (Roth years) in my car along with the Hagar years. I listen to them all all of the time. Respect the fans and bury your ego. No one wants to see your son play. We are sure he is good but dude, don't you want to take over the world again and play with the guys who you got to where you're at with? IF YOU PLAY WITH THE GUYS (NOT YOUR SON) AND POSSIBLY RECORD A RECORD, IT'LL BE KILLER!
Play with the guys and bury the egos or get a new singer, play with your son and call it something new and different.
