EAGLES OF DEATH METAL Laugh Off AXL ROSE's Ohio Rant

MTV.com reports that EAGLES OF DEATH METAL have issued a statement in response to being unceremoniously dumped from the GUNS N' ROSES tour after a chilly reception on the first night of what was supposed to be a three-week stint opening up for Axl Rose and Co. Following a well-received set by tour opener SEBASTIAN BACH Friday night (Nov. 24) at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, the EAGLES took the stage and, according to John Soeder, pop critic for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the band was met with "not deafening boos, but lots of grumbling and grousing and ... indifference." After a two-hour wait for the headliners, Rose came out and promptly dissed the EAGLES, asking the audience, "So how'd you like the PIGEONS OF SHIT METAL? Don't worry, that's the last show they're playing with us." And, just like that, the EAGLES were tossed out of the nest. The EAGLES took the Rose kiss-off with their usual fistful of salt. "At first the audience refused to welcome us to the jungle, but by the time we took our final bow, it had become paradise city," reads a statement from the band released on Monday (November 27). "Although Axl tried to November rain on our parade, no sweet child o' mine can derail the EODM night train. We say live and let die." Read more at MTV.com.

btw, COMETOTHESABBATH2006, Eagles Of Death Metal aren't metal. they've even admitted that they're not metal (there's actually a story behind the name but i forget what it is). they're being mentioned on this website for two reasons: 1. it involves Guns N' Roses and 2. Josh Homme from Queens Of The Stone Age is their drummer.

is a joke name anyway. It's like when somebody says, "he's the Michael Jordan of Baseball" They're calling themselves The Eagles (i.e. joe walsh, don henley, etc.) of Death Metal. Just as The Eagles aren't a rock band, EODM aren't death metal.

The Eagles of Death Metal are fucking an awesome band. They are not metal..they are Rock N Roll...Yes their sound is music may make people want to dance...ooohhh, scary, dancing...god forbid!!!
It's probably the same as going to a Slayer concert..All the old fools want to see only Slayer and won;t except any band before them...dare people try opening their ears and kinds for a change. I mean, it's EODM, it serously could have been al a lot worse, and we all jknow the crap that lurks amongst the mainstream that could have been tossed on this tour.
I'd rather see EODM any day then half the bands out there.

For the guy who said that this tour was their chance and they blew it, do your research. EODM have had several hits already and sold a ton of CD's. They also have had their music used in commercials for Comcast, Payless ShoeSource, Nissan Motors, Budweiser, Pontiac Motors, Wendys, as well as in the trailer for the film Thank You for Smoking. So they won't be needing day jobs anytime soon.

I saw Satyricon in Stockholm this tuesday and Memfis opened. V´They made a very nice performance. The whole place was quiet...

Eagles of Death Metal (sometimes written as "EODM") is an American garage rock band formed by Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme. While Hughes is the leader of the band, Homme is its best known member due to his history as leader of Queens of the Stone Age and as a member of Kyuss. Despite the name, Eagles of Death Metal is not a death metal band. Hughes says the name came from a response to a drunken man, who argued Poison were death metal (it is worth noting, however, that there did exist a German Thrash/Death Metal band named Poison). Hughes retorted that Poison were "the Eagles of death metal" [1]. However, Hughes in interview for polish rock magazine told another story of band's name. He said that his friend, Lou, was trying to make Josh Homme like death metal. When he played Vader, Homme called it "Eagles of death metal". Later, Josh Homme inspired him to write music that he thought would be the Eagles crossed with death metal, and their debut album was the result. In a 2003 interview Homme described the sound of the band as a combination of "bluegrass slide guitar mixed with stripper drum beats and Canned Heat vocals"[2].

Biography
Eagles of Death Metal formed in Palm Desert, California in 1998 and first appeared on Josh Homme's The Desert Sessions Volumes 3 & 4, released that year. Over the next few years, Homme became distracted from the band due to the success of Queens of the Stone Age. However, the band finally released an album on March 23 2004: Peace, Love, Death Metal.
The debut album appeared to be a favourite of advertisers, as several songs from it were used in American television commercials including those for Comcast, Payless ShoeSource, Nissan Motors, Budweiser, Pontiac Motors, Wendys, as well as in the trailer for the film Thank You for Smoking.
The first song on the album, "I Only Want You", was also used on the soundtrack for the PS2 game Gran Turismo 4
The band returned on April 11 2006 with their second effort Death by Sexy. During the first half of 2006 they toured in support of The Strokes and headlined their own US tour with openers The Giraffes followed by dates opening for Peaches. Since then, they have performed with Joan Jett and will be touring with Guns N' Roses. In their first concert with Guns N' Roses, a concert in Cleveland, OH on November 24, 2006, the band was not well received by the crowd. When Axl Rose came out to perform, he referred to the band using a sarcastic derogatory name (The Pigeons of Sh*t Metal) and announced that the show would be their last with Guns N' Roses

This entire article, debate, etc...is hilarious, mainly because Guns n' Roses isn't really Guns n' Roses anymore. It's just a bunch of hired guns along with the lead singer. Furthermore, GnR were VASTLY overrated during their heyday...they were really just a tiny step above hair metal to begin with. They never were really heavy, and FAR from anything metal. Axl sounds like Ethal Merman singing and has virutally NO charisma as a frontman. Why does anyone even give two shits about Axl? GnR is dead. Dead as dead can be.
