GUNS N' ROSES Manager: EAGLES OF DEATH METAL Could Not Handle Audience Response

GUNS N' ROSES' manager Merck Mercuriadis has responded to the claims by the EAGLES OF DEATH METAL leader Jesse "The Devil" Hughes that GN'R bassist Tommy Stinson threw down his bass in disgust after Axl Rose went off on the EAGLES after Hughes and Co. opened for GN'R at Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena Friday night (Nov. 24). EAGLES OF DEATH METAL took the stage in Cleveland to open the first of what was supposed to be 15 North American dates on the GUNS N' ROSES tour, but exited the trek after just that one performance following an onstage rant by Rose, during which he nicknamed the band "The Pigeons of Shit Metal" before informing his audience that the gig would be the EAGLES' last on the tour. "When [ Rose] called us the 'Pigeons of Shit Metal', Tommy Stinson took his bass off, threw it down and went, 'Fuck you, that's it!' to Axl," Hughes told MTV.com. "And then Axl picked [ Stinson's] bass up and threw it at [him]." Mercuriadis disagreed with Hughes' account. "There is no truth to either claim [that Rose fired a crew member or that Stinson threw down his bass] as evidenced by the fact that our crew remains identical to when the tour started almost six weeks ago, and to say Axl threw a bass at Tommy is pure fiction," he told MTV.com. "The EAGLES OF DEATH METAL were asked to leave the tour not only because GUNS N' ROSES' audience hated them and tore them apart but because they could not handle the response. They were supposed to play a 60-minute set but left the stage after 42 minutes due to the hostile reception. So GNR is now a cover band but not AIC? saw them both this summer and both where great and have been a fan of both and im not a soccer mom or something like that and im just 28 years old. the yea and Metallica? they and AIC where the only bands that didn't play new songs so... and both GNR and AIC where better than them. and the new GNR songs are better than anything metallica have put out the last 15 years put together. Maybe just Eagles of death metal just werent good enough so maybe it waas just stupid to put them on in the first place. and why cant you people just suppurt good musiacians instead of always bashing them? maybe just so we can get rid of shit like linkin park or nickebal of the fucking radio and charts! it was so much better both in the 80's and the 90's.

GNR is not for "40 yr olds". I attended the MSG show a few weeks ago and most of the crowd consisted of early 20's college students. To tell you the truth, it's the 30-40yr old crowd that hates and rejects Axl/nu GNR. They will not accept anything that is not the original band. Go visit some of the GNR forums on the net, they consist of mostly teenagers and people in their 20's. Go ahead and say Axl sucks if it makes you feel better but don't be ignorant by saying the people attending this tour are 40 yr olds. Most of the fans from the 80's have moved on and turned their back on Axl.

I once had a lot of respect for GnR, when it was GnR. I dont give a fuck what anyone says but this new Axl Rose fronted band is NOT GnR.
Listen to them properly and none of the songs are played the same anymore, and Axl is a mere shadow of his former self vocally. Anyone who doubts that is really kidding themselves.
Rose is doing this for the money and nothing more, fights, badmouthing bands that HE has chosen? Hello people, ever hear the term "PUBLICITY STUNT"?
And, as for this farse that they are calling "Chinese Democracy"... ive been waiting for this album since i was 17 years old, im 27 now so go figure lol. Its already a washed up overrated piece of crap and it hasnt even been released yet.
All you "GnR" die hards can hang on to your sad excuse for what was once an amazing band but i assure you when this album reaches stores (if ever) you are in for a rude awakening.

Axl voice worse now???? hehe nob its better, just listen to the dvd's from tokyo, saw him twice this summer and he was better than on both of them, and maybe thats also because he's running around alot and he have that kind of voice wich is very difficult to sing live, it's not like he have some voice everyone have or can sing. and the new songs are better than most a the shit you hear on radio nowadays so hopefully they get played when they come out instead of Green Day, Nickelback or linkin park. just get over it, Slash and co are in VR wich is fine by me at least. so AIC is not AIC now? and Black Sabbath with dio? they just did as Tony Iommi said, just carry on. and who gives a fuck if the cd's are good. ok maybe bands should change the name, but still they sell more records with the old name because its difficult to start all over again with new name, but sometimes it works sometimes not. Motley Crue is aa very good example, vince got fired/quit and everyone talks shit about them and dont buy the album or concerts, but still the album was fucking good and still is very good and would probably had sold much more if it would have been some other guys or just different name.

Hey, I was at the show. Check out any of the other articles about the "Pigeons of Shit Metal" incident and you'll see my comments. But the bottom line is that Tommy Stinson never threw down his bass, Axl never picked the bass up and threw it at Tommy. And EoDM did not win over the crowd by the end of their set.
I still blame Axl though. Not taking the stage till midnight (about five hours after the doors opened!) is wrong. I don't think the crowd was really booing EoDM because they sucked; they just wanted to see GNR.
If Tommy Stinson did throw a temper tantrum, it was because the sound crew was doing a horrible job. The bass was way too low in the mix. Then again, this is my fifth or sixth concert at Gund Arena, and for some reason it just sounds like shit there.

Slagging off your opening band is totally unprofessional. Axl IS GNR, these days, and he can pick the opening bands he wants. If he thought they sucked, then it was his fault for picking them, and he shouldn't have picked them in the first place. If he had balls, he would have told the audience off. They were probably just pissed because they didnt want to wait for Axl to put his makeup on and talk to his shrink. Bottom line: Axl's fault, but like the prissy little woman he is, he has to blame the opening band. What a coward.

While Axl was back stage going down on his boyfriend (Sebastian Bach) most likely. Asshle Rose is rude to the bands that are still willing to open for them and their dwindleing fans. Always has been. Why do dildo's still waste money on this asshole? Go to a small place and check out Eagles of Death Metal. You will get your moneys worth out of them and be home before Shithead Rose would even consider coming out to play.

Axl's solo band just lost another member (drummer Brian Mantia), so now Axl has to re-record everything again. If Tommy leaves, then they'll pretty much have to start from scratch.

GnR was never that good of a band...they were just one step beyond "hair metal". They weren't that heavy, now were they? GnR was definitely more of just a "rock n' roll" band. The guitar tone was thin and mid-range, and Axl's voice just plain sucks. He really sounds like Ethal Merman trying to sing rock music. Now he's old, bloated, out of breath, and just a general hack. He never had any charisma, and certainly has none now. Appetite for Destruction has to be the most overrated album in rock history. Eagles of Death Metal are, at least, entertaining. They never claimed to be a "heavy" band, though. They're a garage rock band with a huge sense of irony. EODM started out more as a joke band, really. Josh Homme from QOTSA (they rule) should get on stage and slap Axl across his coward face...I'd pay to see Homme kick Axl's ass...

You have to be a pretty big DOUCHE to lie about something that happened at a live show. All the live reports confirm that the bullshit "Axl throwing a bass at Tommy" story never happened. The only thing Tommy was pissed off about that night was the sound mix. Eagles caught in a lie, classic, plus they will forever be known as the Pigeons of Shit Metal. And people think Axl has no sense of humor.

Well, if you were a normal human being, no, you wouldnt. But, if you are Axl Rose, and you are a paranoid freak, yes you do, because you have to get back at the bandmembers who finally got tired of licking your balls. Why do you think the Matt Sorum is listed as a "backing musician" on the GNR live album? One of the biggest reasons why Chi-Dem has taken 12 years to record (besides the fact that polishing a turd just results in a shinier turd) is that Axl keeps losing musicians and rerecording their parts as revenge. He's on his 3rd freakin drummer now, and I'm not talking about Popcorn and Matt Sorum--I'm talking about the 3rd freakin drummer on Chi-Dem alone. He replaced Josh Freese's parts, and he's gonna replace Brian's parts. Mark my word.

To choose a band for an opener, now show up on stage till after midnight because you were too busy with your PMS problem, let the crowd take out its aggravation on the opening band, and then slag said band off. You have to be a PUSSY to do that.
Axl Rose just knows that Josh Homme was in Kyuss and Queens of the Stone age, which automatically makes him cool, no matter what pussy mainstream rock fans think. That pisses Axl off, because he knows he is a worldwide joke. That's right, the joke's on Axl, as it always is. You snooze, you lose.
