GUNS N' ROSES Bassist: We Are 'Getting Along Better Than We Ever Have' - Dec. 2, 2006
GUNS N' ROSES has issued the following update:

"GUNS N' ROSES had a great night in Ames, Iowa last night [Friday, December 1]. It was fantastic for everyone to get back on stage with Axl [Rose] on the road to recovery from the ear infection and the strep throat that caused their Milwaukee show to be cancelled. It was also really positive to have HELMET join the band alongside SUICIDE GIRLS, MODERN DAY ZERO and SEBASTIAN BACH after the disappointment that was the EAGLES OF DEATH METAL. Axl and the band would also like to thank everyone for staying extra late in Ames. They left Chicago in the morning but what was supposed to be a one-hour plane flight turned into a 12-hour bus ride due to the severe weather that hit Chicago and most of the country. The bus was diverted several times by the police due to major accidents and for a time there was real concern that the band would not make it. In the end it was all good and once again they would like to thank everyone for their patience and willingness to stay up late as well as apologize to anyone that had to leave! They look forward to seeing you over the next few weeks and wishing you Merry Christmas!"

"Regarding the EAGLES OF DEATH METAL and their recent bogus claims [that GUNS N' ROSES bassist Tommy Stinson threw down his bass in anger after Rose called EAGLES OF DEATH METAL 'The Pigeons Of Shit Metal' in Cleveland], Stinson had this to say: 'As a matter of fact, EAGLES OF DEATH METAL were a suggestion of mine a while ago. Turns out they were the wrong band for our crowd. They were booed and did not play for as long as they were scheduled to. As for all of the inaccuracies that have been said since, I would like to say that's all they are — inaccuracies. In the past I have thrown my bass. I have never thrown it at Axl or anyone else in the band nor has anyone thrown my bass back at me… yet. Axl has been a dear friend to me for nine years. We have no problem communicating and wish that people would stay the fuck out of shit they don't know anything about. There was no GN'R mutiny or any such thing after the Cleveland gig and as far as I'm concerned this tour has been the most fun yet. The band is playing great and getting along better than we ever have. With that said, either get on board or fuck off.'"

That sounded totally unconvincing. I have to say, I believe that other guy over anything Axl or anyone in the G'n'R camp says.

It's like everyone seems to forget how full of shit Axl is about everything. G'n'R fans are like beaten wives that go back for more. They know he sucks and is going to screw them over but they keep going back because they liked the first album that much.

on the last GNR tour in boston Axl was talking smack about Izzy. He was saying how they used to turn his amp off cause he was too wasted. The crowd booed the shit out of him.

Izzy Stradlin went on tour with nu GNR in Europe this yr and will be rejoining the band to play the L.A dates during this tour. Izzy Stradlin said some insensitive things about Axl in 2001 and that is probably why Axl lashed out and said those things in Boston. Axl and Izzy are childhood buddies who have had several feuds but they always make up. They will forever be friends no matter what shit they talk about each other. As for the comments by Pigeons of Shit Metal they are all fabricated. The idiot said that Stinson threw his bass at Axl during November Rain and then Axl threw it back at him. Unless Axl has grown a very long 3rd arm I think everybody in the crowd( inluding the press) would have notcied Axl getting up from his piano midway through the song and throwing a bass at Tommy. These are things that are not going to go unnoticed by fans and press, especially when they are waiting for any chance to bash the band. Every newspaper article the next day said that GNR put on a great show and that "Pigeons" were an absolute joke. They even agreed with Axl kicking them off the tour. It's funny how the haters don't mind using lies to attack Axl.

LOSERS

You dunno who Tommy Stinson is? Get the fuck off of all music sites and take a lesson about a band called the Replacements. Tommy was a bonafide rock star long before GNR. Every fan report confirmed it. Tommy has now confirmed it. The bass story was a lie. Lame on the part of the Pigeons of Shit Metal.

Rather than rip each of you apart one by one (which is very easy to do), I will simply say...every single one of the haters are either :

A - people who don't know any better

or

B - people who have nothing better to do than read shit about bands they hate so they can chime in on shit they dont care about and try their best to make it look bad and make themselves feel like they are actually smart or have something decent to contribute.

or

C - Anonymous chicken shits behind Mom and Dad's computer screens jerking off for fun because they have no chance in hell of going out in public, picking up an actual woman and actually getting laid and realizing there's more to life than this bullshit!!!

or

D - Someone who appreciates good music and a good time and respects talent and diversity.

Which one are you??

...he played in a band w/more balls, heart and soul and integrity than Axl Rose could ever imagine. I speak as the biggest Replacements fan on planet earth: I don't know ONE single 'Mats fan who isn't stunned and depressed every time we see Tommy being Axls friggin' mouthpiece--insisting that Chi-Dem is about to come out, saying that it's delayed because he played "a few clams" on the bass that they have to fix, even slamming friggin' PAUL WESTERBERG because Westerberg dared to say something negative about Axl. (and if you don't know who Paul Westerberg is,
you don't know jack s**t about Tommy Stinson). If you really are a 'Mats fan, then you wouldnt defend Tommy's becoming Axls chump. You wanna say Tommy Stinson: THIS is Tommy Stinson:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=aMhh0shi_Jg

I have no idea what happened the other night & I don't really care, but methinks that just maybe the report is RIGHT--just for a second, the real Tommy Stinson showed up on stage.

this dude needs to realize he is pretty much in a cover band, i'm glad g n r is back touring, but unless you were originally part of the band, I don't want to hear you saying get on board or fuck, cuz really, you should fuck off, everyone wants to hear the songs live with axl's voice and the way the songs were recorded, meaning get out there, dont try and throw your own shit into it, play it like duff did, and slash, and the others, and shut your fucking mouth

Why is he playing in a cover band?

He IS a musical legend. And your question is something all of us are scratching our heads over. Why? Why?

"Tommy was a bonafide rock star long before GNR. "

that's why he used to be a teleseller before axl saved his ass and let him pay the bills?

Guess what, my friend? Some things transcend how much money is in your bank account. Sheesh.

You're entitled to your opinions, but maybe you should make informed opinions before you spout off a lot of non-sense.

"not much but it was there. you actually had to go into the music store and look under the "p" section for pantera for example. it wasn't on the top 100 wall with the replacements and madonna and pearl jam and keith sweat(?). "

Inaccuracy #1: Pantera's Far Beyond Driven debuted at number 1, and subsequent albums debuted in the top ten, so they would have been on the top 100 wall.

Inaccruracy #2: The Replacements were pretty much done as a band by 1990, so they were an 80s band more than a 90s band.

Inaccuracy #3: The Replacements never had an album in the top 100. In fact, that's almost the way they seemed to want it. They had more integrity than anybody that I can think of. They were so against "selling out" to the MTV crowd that they once recorded a video of a speaker playing one of their songs, rather than pandering themselves and becoming associated with a network that, anyone with any taste, seems to hate!

So if you don't like their music, that's your choice. But you should actually know who they are, before you start talking out of your ass!

You may end up not liking the Replacements if you ever try them out, but it will enrich your musical education greatly if you do try them out!

Tommy Stinson was 13 years when he started out being the Replacements bassist, btw.

no disrespect, but tommy stinson was the teenage bassist in a legendary-amongst-themselves rock band from the mid-west about whom precious few could give a flying rat's asshole.

so yeah, he's nobody. at all. i mean, it might as well be Axl's bodyguard or driver: "Yeah, Axl and I are getting along great. He doesn't have my son beaten anymore when I'm late. He just takes a shit in my car now. Like bosom chums, I say."
