Report: Up To 30 Injured In DISTURBED Mosh Pit At Wisconsin Concert - Dec. 20, 2006
The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that as many as 30 people were treated for various injuries at Tuesday night's (Dec. 19) Music as a Weapon Tour concert — featuring DISTURBED, STONE SOUR, FLYLEAF and NONPOINT — at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin, according to the Ashwaubenon Public Safety Department.

Between 25 to 30 people suffered from either cuts, bruises, and overheating after participating in a mosh pit, officials said.

Two people were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Officers said one passed out.

Police arrested two, one for underage drinking and the other for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Five also were cited for smoking violations, according officials.

The moshpit/injuries weren't from the heaviness of Disturbed...it's just in Wisconsin's metal/rock concert-goers' blood to get rowdy like that. :)

Natural selection? Survival of the fittest?

I'm sure Darwin would agree that teenage boys and grown men who enjoy getting sweaty, shoving and rubbing up on each other at a Disturbed show in an effort to prove their masculinity are more prone to serious injury than the average concert-goer.

hahahaha didn't this happen in Wisconsin recently with another band??

And the reason people probably got all "hurt" is because kids who listen to Disturbed don't normally mosh so they go in there throwing punchings and scratching everyone with their nails from hot topic.

Are they talking about the right concert? NONE of those bands are hard enough to be considered mosh-worthy, then again, only the clinically brain dead are dumb enough to get involved in a mosh pit anyway.

Is this really a surprise? With pits the way they are nowadays the injuries could have been worse. Kids today have no concept of what an actual pit is. It's supposed to be an expression of the music and how it makes you feel. Instead it's developed into who can kick the highest, punch the hardest, and draw first blood. It's about injuring your neighbor, not having a good time.

Granted, I'm not as young as I used to be but ptis used to be a shoving match where people would help you up if you fell. Now they just let you lay there and get trampled. Of course these are only my observations.

I saw Ministry last year and they had an "old school" pit, I got in it without any injuries and had a blast! So I know they still exist out there somewhere :-)

People weren't injured from the pit they were injured while trying to escape the arena before Disturbed to the stage with their junior high bullsh!t show.

Nothing I hate worse then some asshole throwing punches in the pit. I'm more of the old school mosher, I do some shoving, but I also help guys up and try to help anybody that gets a little out of control(those guys who are about to hit the pit wall at nearly full speed) I usually lay people out when I see them throwing punches, and kicking an shit. To yourcreator, if it's not your thing, it's not your thing. I don't think I'm necessarily any dumber then you because I have some aggression to get out when I go to a heavy concert.

....come on, did you have to bring the cheese head into it. Some inbred Packer fans(I'm actually a fan, but I hate when people wear cheese heads) do it, and suddenly everyone in Wisconsin apparently has one..... you're right about Brett Favre though. This sucks so bad that this happened. The local venues are already really coming down hard on mosh pits. I can't imagine what this is going to do. I'm sure the Rave(in Milwaukee) won't even let you pump your fists too much without getting thrown out now....they've become ridiculous about moshing over the last couple years.

The problem is that people have no idea what they are doing in a pit anymore. When it went mainstream in the early 90's that was the end. You are not supossed to be hurting people on purpose, that's not what a pit is about. There were always unwritten rules when it was underground and everyone understood them. Now every asshole in the place is looking to "assassinate" someone with cheap shots from behind or blind sides. It's ridiculous and stupid. Disturbed is not a mosh band, they do not play mosh music and you aren't supossed to mosh there. Moshing is for Thrash, Punk, Hardcore and Crossover music, music that actually has mosh parts. These idiots get what they deserve.

I was laughing at this since the little mall metalhead/bubblegum punks have no idea what a true mosh pit is! Moshing was not some EMO punk trying out his new Jackie Chan wanna-be kicks or windmill punches, it was about the music, respect, and the release of aggression. This is why some old skool (for the hot topic crowd) moshers laugh at you and stay on the sidelines!
