- Jan. 8, 2007
NEMHAIN, the new band featuring ex-CRADLE OF FILTH/AT THE GATES drummer Adrian Erlandsson and his wife, fetish model Morrigan Hel (a.k.a. Amber England), has uploaded its video for the song "Ana" to the band's MySpace page (scroll down). The clip was shot on November 12, 2006 at Bar Monsta in London and was masterminded by independent film company The Cry & The Chainsaw — the brainchild of director Amy Akkonite — which also features the band's guitarist Sam Hain.
As previously reported, NEMHAIN will enter the studio on January 15 with acclaimed producers Greg Brimson (METALLICA, RAMMSTEIN, BUSH) and Russ Russell (NAPALM DEATH, DIMMU BORGIR, NEW MODEL ARMY) to record a new song, entitled "Dirty Weekend". The group will also record a MISFITS cover on January 11 with Tristan McGarrigl for KEG's MISFITS 30th anniversary tribute compilation, to be released in February.
NEMHAIN lineup:

At the Gates " The Red in the Sky is Ours" and all the work Adrian did with Cradle of Filth especially " Midian " is just kick ass, classic and killer.
This is a situatuion like The Gathering, Therion and Ulver who are also genre shifting and genre morphing bands. Since Adrian can really do no wrong, no matter the approach he tries, ala The Gathering, Therion and Ulver.
I read the infos on the website. I am only expecting something in the heavy punk Vein of The Horrorpops " Hell yeah" ...and nothing else.
This seems promising, I hope the band practices alot, so they will be ready on the debut, as opposed to releasing 3 to 5 albums that are really off the cuff demos.

sounds crappy, unfortunately. 2 hot women and a good drummer does not a band make.
Nothing, nothing, nothing, NOTHING like Ulver's, the Gathering's, or Therion's genre straddling works. This is pop rock garbage and all of your name band and zine name dropping is bullshit at best.
Blargh.

I only gave those examples why I am remain a fan of Adrian' and I gave logical explainations, why I am not turning my back on a musician who I have been a fan since 1991.
Here is the logic that you claim is name dropping.
The Gathering started out as death metal band.
Then they became a Gothic Metal band.
Then they became a Gothic rock band with trip hop influences.
Did I turn my back. NO...
I am applying the same logic to Adrian's situation.
Now Therion's career is pretty much similar to the Gathering.
Starting out as one of the leading bands of the 1990's death metal movement.
Then transformed into a Gothic Metal band.
Did I turn my back..NO.
Ulver started out as a black metal band, and leaders of the second wave of black metal, when more forward thinking a progressive minded bands, were popping up everywhere with fresh new sounds.
Then they evolved in to a band in left field of hard rock.
Did I turn my back NO.
Adrian played for 2 legendary world class metal bands...At the Gates and Cradle of Filth. As those fanbases have totally dedicated lifelong hardcore diehard fanatics.
Adrian played for At the Gates, when they were a legendary death metal act, back in 1991. Then he played drums for the leaders of the Symphonic Black Metal movement, Cradle of Filth. Outlasting even Emperor.
Then Adrian played for The Haunted, a pretty cool thrashing metal band.
Now Adrian is trying his hand heavy punk rock....and like with The Gathering, Ulver, Therion...who are world class bands, like At the Gates, and Cradle of Filth...So I picked those examples, because they have somethings in common.
Like starting off way in the left field of extreme metal, and using their extreme forward thinking mind, and working a morphing into rock bands also way out there in left field, so far ahead of the corporate rock pack, the term progressive, does not do them justice.
I am not just "dropping names / zines" I know the history of metal since 1980, because I have been a hardcore metal fanatic for that long. So how is being a lifelong metallers, showing support for a legendary drummer, with a few classic albums under his bulletbelt? Just name dropping, for fuck and shit.
In order to give examples, one has to give the logical ones.
The Gathering, Ulver, Therion, ...are all world class bands, that went from metal extreme side, to rock and rolls extreme side. So I chose those examples, instead of say Pantera. A band who grew the other direction, from the opposite songwriting point of view.
Like I said, even if Adrian's new band just plays 4/4 basic rock and roll, it will still be kick ass, in the vein of the Horrorpops.
Even if the bands music does not morph, into what you want to make the analogy perfect. What is still at the heart of my comment. is that I learned this growth from what I had to experience from being a fan of The Gathering, Therion, and Ulver. So I am not going to turn my back on a drummer who I have been a fan of 16 years no, just because so-called metallers do not approve.
If I am a die hard fan of At the Gates, why can I not just say that, and down with all those genre collector rules. If this band falls between AC/ DC and Burzum I am good with what ever Nemhain puts out.
Long Live Nemhain...!!!!!!
