G3: First Dates Announced - Jan. 26, 2007
The first dates have been announced for the 2007 incarnation of Joe Satriani's popular G3 tour, which will kick off on March 14 in Phoenix, starring Satriani, John Petrucci and Paul Gilbert. The tour will play selected dates in North America throughout March and April. The first dates are as follows:

Mar. 14 - Dodge Theatre - Phoenix, AZ
Mar. 15 - House Of Blues - Las Vegas, NV
Mar. 16 - Grand Sierra Theatre - Reno, NV
Mar. 17 - Berkeley Community Theatre - Berkeley, CA
Mar. 18 - Orpheum Theatre - Los Angeles, CA

Continuing with the same successful formula as in years past, fans will be treated to individual sets by each guitarist with their own bands before joining Satriani and his band on stage for an all-star jam session. As with previous G3 tours, special guest guitarists will be invited to join the jam at select dates around the country. Past guests have included Neal Schon, Gary Hoey, George Lynch, Billy Gibbons, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Robert Fripp and Brian May.

I love Satch's stuff sure enough, but I want Vai as well...
Hopefully he'll be back in the fold by the time G3 hits Europe again.

Hypothetically speaking, do you guys think Eddie has enough instrumental music in him to do a G3 tour? I know there is a 99% chance it would never happen, especially since he supposedly is going to tour with Dave this year. But ... what do you think. He talked about a solo album last year, so who knows. Just taking a shot in the dark here with this question.

No chance for Eddie. He's too much of a loose cannon.

Paul Gilbert- yikes.. I wonder if he'll be bringing a drill... or Billy Sheehan with him.

COMMENT | EVH...great idea!

Actually that's a really good idea. I think that if EVH wanted to get back in peoples good graces, he would join the G3 tour and demand that he be treated like everyone else, in fact be the one who goes on first. A little bit of humble pie from him would be a wise thing from him at this point. Now of course when he was on stage, tear it up..no question. Remind folks of who EVH was, and still can be. Folks would fully embrace the EVH that was not only a killer guitarist, but also was always the smiling guy on all the videos. Once the G3 "I'm sorry for being a jerk." tour was over, he would have enough cred then to go forward with a Van Halen reunion. And folks...VH is not VH without Michael Anthony.
