DEVILDRIVER: New Album Due In June
- Jan. 28, 2007
|
|
|
DEVILDRIVER, the Santa Barbara, California-based band featuring former COAL CHAMBER frontman Dez Fafara, recently wrapped up the recording sessions for its third album, "The Last Kind Words", at Sonic Ranch studios outside El Paso, Texas. Jason Suecof, known for his great work with TRIVIUM, CHIMAIRA, GOD FORBID, and BURY YOUR DEAD, is producing the album, with engineer Mark Lewis helping out as well. Working songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Damning the Heavens", "Cattle Call", "The Last Kind Words" and "Monsters of the Deep".
Commented Fafara: "The record is finished and has now begun to be mixed. Most of it was done in Texas, and I finished the vocals with Jason here in Santa Barbara on January 13th. We have named it 'The Last Kind Words'!! Release date for our third record will be June 5th, 2007 [in the U.S., one day earlier internationally]. We are in the process now of locking down tours, and will keep you informed. As of now, [it] looks like we will see ya in late March, early April. "Heres what we are doing: Jeff [Kendrick, guitar] is in Boston, where he is from, visiting family. [Jon] Miller [bass] is kicking at home, gettin some needed rest, watching horror flicks and anything with sharks in it. [John] Boecklin [drums] is at home and just got engaged to his longtime sweetheart. Mike [Spreitzer, guitar] is at home, and no doubt, kite-boarding daily! I'm here writing this..lololo.. "We are working on artwork for the new disc, and will post when we have anything 'solid.' As far as when we will post new music? As soon as we get some good mixes I'm sure that we will put up something for all of you."

I have personally had the pleasure of listening to a few of the unmixed tracks (some without vocals at the time) when I last visited AudioHammer studios. As a fan of this band, I was totally psyched to hear that this album simply CRUSHES and pushes some new boundaries and directions for this band. I'm a huge fan of the 1st album, and some of the 2nd, and I predict that this latest effort is going to push this band further to the front of the line of metal gods! This band deserves to be on the main stage at Ozzfest this year, and when you guys hear the finished product, you're going to agree with me! Jason and the band have done an incredible job, so kudos to everyone involved with this project!

This band haul's ass over 99% of the new music/metal being released these days. Such a full sound on the last record, but personally i think it didn't sound "over-produced" like most of the shit metal-core being shoved down everyones throats lately. I can damn near guarantee this new album is gonna make a solid mark in the metal community.

First, I really liked the first two albums, heavy stuff in each one, and something I would like to say to those haters of every band that´s out today, do you think you know anything about music? when your band if some of you can even play an instrument, is out headlining festivals all over the world and selling decent number of cd´s then you can speak anything about the rest of the bands of this genere, not everything in life is death and black metal, for me those subgeneres are the less talent speaking musically, to be metal you need melody too and those death metal bands only make noise.

First off, I never said I don't like Devildriver. I've met the band numerous times and own all of their CD's including both versions of "The Fury Of Our Makers Hand" (Thanks to Roadrunner for agian sticking it to anyone who likes any of the bands on their label) Second being a heterosexual eliminates me from being a pole smoker. Thirdly to claim that the last CD was a letdown as a disgrace to the metal community is joke in itself considering most of the hardcore metal community hates this band and labels them a nu metal. Grow up.

This band is 6/10 on their albums, but 11/10 live. Anyone who has seen this band live will agree that they are one of the best live bands around.

"The Fury Of Our Maker's Hand" was soooo much better than the first album. Better arrangements, better production. Pretty much superior in all ways. And i expect them to improve even more on the next CD.
\m/ DEVILDRIVER!!! \m/
(...very sloppy live band though)

All hail roadrunner and their awesome bands!
Who needs these loser, talentless metal bands like Death, Atheist, Cynic, Necrophagist and such when we've got devildriver, Machine Head and Trivium!
roadrunner is metal and if you don't think so, you can just leave this site right now forever and never come back! 2007 is the year of the roadrunner! YYYEEEAAAAHHH BOOOOYYYYY!!!!

To me, Devildriver just keep getting better with each new album. And the first one was pretty fucking nice. Same with Coal Chamber back then: each new CC was getting better.
Go Devildriver!!!!

I never say any metal genere is just noise, so I think you should read better, I like metal is the only kind of music along whit classical that I enjoy , what I wanted to say is that most of the haters that say devil driver, trivium or most of the new wave of metal is crap are the ones who claim to be very metal and they name bands that no one knows and most of this bands play death and black metal, to me this two sub generes are very simple I dont like them but I enjoy any kind of metal if it´s good, so instead of praing what´s real metal or what´s not lets just listend to what we like, AND YES THE HIP HOP IS NOT MISIC THOSE ARE REALLY UNTALENTED PEOPLE.

amen to that. And by "good" we mean "to each his own" with all due respect to everybody else.

dude im a huge metal fan for as long as i can remember but seriously if u think death metal is simple then i must say u have never listened to bands like death, behemoth, the berzerker, bloodbath, meshuggah and the alikes because death and black metal are nothing simple... i wanna see you trying to play some old school technical death metal and see if u think its simple as you claim... i agree with you asmodeus

Hmmm...Maybe they haven't heard of The Choco-Butternut Boys..They really play very deep death-metal...that could really unleash hell anytime....
JEEZ GET A LIFE DUDES!...both genres are kickass!... There are just dumb kids these days posing to be metal and think that they're so cool that they know metal than anybody else.
I think these guys need a tour to HELL...maybe that's the time they will understand metal...
