VAN HALEN: 'Best Of (1978-1984)' Pushed Back Once Again - Feb. 15, 2007
BLABBERMOUTH.NET can reveal that Rhino Records has once again pushed back the projected release date of VAN HALEN's "Best Of (1978-1984)", the first single-disc compilation exclusively spotlighting 1978-1984, the group's original David Lee Roth era — this time to April 3. The album, which coincides with VAN HALEN's March 2007 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, contains over an hour of remastered classics from the albums "Van Halen", "Van Halen II", "Women And Children First", "Fair Warning", "Diver Down", and "1984". Highlights include "Runnin' With The Devil", "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love", and "And The Cradle Rock". Also featured are "Everybody Wants Some", "So This Is Love" and "Oh, Pretty Woman". The CD booklet will contain rarely seen photos and liner notes.

"Best Of (1978-1984)" tentative track listing:

01. Runnin' With The Devil
02. Eruption
03. You Really Got Me
04. Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love
05. Jamie's Cryin'
06. Dance The Night Away
07. Somebody Get Me A Doctor
08. Beatuiful Girls
09. And The Cradle Will Rock
10. Everybody Wants Some
11. Mean Street
12. Unchained
13. So This Is Love?
14. Where Have All The Good Times Gone
15. Oh, Pretty Woman
16. Dancing In The Street
17. Jump
18. Panama
19. Hot For Teacher

VAN HALEN released a statement on Feb. 2 saying David Lee Roth will come back to the band for a summer tour of North America. The 40-date trek will mark the first time since 1984 that Roth will perform with Eddie Van Halen and Alex Van Halen along with new bassist, Wolfgang Van Halen (Eddie's 15-year-old son). Eddie said in a statement, "I am very excited to get back to the core of what made VAN HALEN."

Isn't Michael Anthony part of that core that made Van Halen? Eddie Van Halen is such a douchbag these days.....I hope this tour flops.

Sans Anthony? Why? The Core that made Van Halen is the original 4, not the original 3 plus the reminants of a good night with the Bert some 16 years ago. Hey hooray that someone gets a big break and get to join a money making band without having to work for it, but I guess somebody has to inherit the throne. Maybe he will be good enough to be the next Metallica bassist as soon as King Idiot James runs off the Indian looking guy or runs over him with the tour bus.
Long live VH!!
I'll still go see the show. I am a big Eddie fan, even though I can smoke him on guitar.

So you fork over some big bucks to catch the VH reunion show. The house lights dim, the intro bass thump of "Runnin' With the Devil" shakes the arena floor, drums and guitar kick in and the stage is illuminated. You look over at stage left and some chubby kid is playing the bass.

I call shenanigans.

I think that having Eddies son Wolfy playing bass would truely inspire any vh fan to see just that. I love van halen , not the attitudes, but the fact that Ed can have his son playing on tour with him is awesome.... an further more i do believe that a new album with new stuff is definately needed. Dave is what makes vh tick the right way and it would only make the tour better much better with new album not best of. My wife and I as well as my 15 y o kid is going to see them when they make it to our area. GO VH!!!!!

Anybody notice How the Police got back together, updated their web site, annouced tour dates and starting selling tickets all in a matter of a few weeks..

Here we are almost 2 months after talks of Eddie and David getting back together and we still don't have any Tour dates and the Van Halen web page has been down for a Month?

If Van Halen tours with David this year It will be nothing short of a modern day Miracle....

Eddi is a fool , DLR is done, Sammy should be the man and if you DLR lovers out there don't beleive me I saw the Sam and Dave tour, and DLR sucked wind, Sammy sounded perfect. And please tell me what DLR and /or Eddie has done since 1997, Come on Sammy's Van Halen 2004 tour pulled in $40 MIL and if Eddie waste sippin the juice they should of wrote material for a CD, but that didn't happen because Eddie split up that attempt before it could of been done. Eddie should have Sammy and Dave tour that way they would make more money and satisfy both frontmen fans, but you watch DLR and Eddie will but headat the begining of the tour if not at the Hall of Fame!

But have to admit, I'm worried. No MA?! Saw Dave open up for Bad Company a few years ago, and though he was still amazing physically (jumping around, dancing, high kicks and all), his voice was a bit ragged. Regardless of he and EVH's relationship, will this version SOUND any good? Man, I hope to god so. Just glad it's not Sammy- that is NOT VH, and not worth anyone paying for. Crap. At least Rush is on its way to kicking ass and taking names soon- can't wait!!

(I'm sorry if this has been posted ahead of me. I tried to read them all but just couldn't do it.)

Who cares if they push the release of this back? It's not like anything unreleased from what I've heard. I read about 5 years ago how Eddie had 5 albums of songs written. Give one albums worth to Dave and let him record some stuff and release that. That's what real Van Halen want. Tour is cool and all, but most people spend $100 or more dollars to go for one night and it's over. Give us a new album please with Dave!

Eddie called Sammy back in '84. Sammy had just come off of a multi platinum LP "Standing Hampton" he was questioning even giving up his solo career for VH, but decided to use most of the lyrics he wrote for his solo career and put them on most of the VH LP's. So don't say Sammy needed VH, I think VH and Eddie needed him, come on tell me one VH hit since Sammy left the band in '97, just one????? Can't cause thay weren't even a band anymore let alone a band with a lead singer.
SAMMY ROCKS and I wish to god he was still with Van Halen,
but Eddie screwed that up, that selfish bastard.
Now their without Michael Anthony and I'll tell you, Eddie and Alex hate DLR more than Eddie disagrees with Sammy. He won't last the Hall of Fame speech, just like he didn't last in the Grammy speech back in '97, the guy is a total FLAKE, I mean I loved VH back in the day, but times change and a flambouent camera hog isn't going to work with Eddie. That is why Sammy worked, Sammy just wanted to sing and enjoyed being part of the band, you can tell, if Eddie would get rid of the attitude and ask Sammy back, Sammy would jump at the chance. But we all got to remember they are getting old and set in there ways, so we'll all see what a bunch of 50 - 60 year old guys will do with the attitudes. I miss both eras of VH but just like trying to get back with an EX it just ain't gonna work.

Bye Bye Sammy Hello Dave!!!!!! Finally after all of these years he's back. Sammy was the scab that covered Van Halen's wound. Van Halen was a legend before Sammy even came on the scene. I saw Sammy sing with VH 4 times and the band always stole the show from the frontman. It should be the other way around or at least equal, but Sammy has no stage presence compared to Dave. His vocals could never do any of the original VH songs justice either. I'm so glad the man who helped make VH a legend is back and I can't drive 55 is gone! Let Eddie's son play this year and have a blast in 2007, but bring Mike back next year so the real VH will be complete. Sammy stay in Cabo, that's your spot! VH fans be ready for a rockin tour!!!!

Dude, you're smoking crack if you think sammy stole the DLR/Red cockknocker tour. In Chicago Sammy got Booed, badly. He was playing that retarded video for I can't drive 55 behind him while he played the song. You remember that video, where sammy pretends to be the love child of Ronald McDonald and Mad Max (look at his outfit dude). Yeah, he was proud of that shit, and sang really "kick ass" songs like Little white Lie, and "Right Now." Stupid and Lame. Boring. Dave opened up with Hot for Teacher, and stole the show in about 1 minute. IT was over. Maybe you where there, I remember one dude and his trashy wife leaving with their hobo kids after sammy played. Looked like they were getting kicked out...

DLR + EVH + AVH = The Best (+WVH).

I saw the Sam and Dave show also, and DLR sounded really rough. Hell, my husband and I saw Dave w/VH back in '83 and when he was solo in '87 and he was rough then, wait until Eddie relizes that he is stink'n drunk in front of his kid and then has DLR taking over the stage, then he'll really wish he had both Sammy and Michael back. this tour is running on empty already and it hasn't even gotten started yet. I love VH, but not going backards.
