LUKAS ROSSI: 'I Totally Believe In ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA. It's My Band, Man'

ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA singer Lukas Rossi recently told Victor Balta of HeraldNet.com that he is ready to push forward with the band despite the fact that the group's self-titled debut CD came out to mostly bad reviews and didn't crack Billboard's Top 100, having sold a mere 49,000 copies in the United States since its November 21, 2006 release. "Obviously you want the (record) sales and so forth, but there was no help, the label didn't really push it much," Rossi said last week. "It's kind of sad, you know, but the proof is in (the) pudding, bro, and the fans are going to see what the band's all about if they come to the show." While the post-reality show experience hasn't gone strictly according to the script, Rossi delights in the fact he's getting to see parts of the world he's never seen and getting the true rock star experience. "I'm having the time of my life, to be honest," he said. "Just seeing all the people, all the fans, and I've been keeping in contact with some of the fans online, trying to reach every one of them. "There's so much that goes into this tour besides just playing the shows, you know? I'm seeing the world, man. I wouldn't even fathom, back in the day, going two blocks down the road to get a pack of cigarettes. Now I'm going to New Zealand (in a few weeks)." Rossi didn't have a direct answer for the critics who dismiss the SUPERNOVA project as a one-time deal, but fans who are even curious should get a look at this band before it's all over. "I'm focusing on this right now," Rossi said. "It's just like any other band, brother. The band will be together as long as the band wants to be together, as long as the fans support it. A s#%t sandwich. This FARCE is beyond Spinal Tap; the most pathetic part about it is how Tommy Lee and Gilby Clarke are hanging this idiot out to dry; you don't hear them defending the garbage they put out with this band... Hell Tommy Lee has NEVER been this quiet... As for Newsted, I can't even find the words... it's f$%kin' sad. Where are all of the "other" creative things that he, as an artist, "had to get out" paying off for him? At least he has some integrity in Voivod.
Did that dude say the label didn't push the record? You think real bands could capitalize on prime time television exposure? Is there anything more influential? Please dude.
Hopefully this disaster will put an end to shows like Supernova... Ya gotta get it honest boys; pop music don't want you and the people who put you where you are will NEVER accept this.

Although I usually admire you for sticking to your guns and appreciating hard rock bands, I really have to disagree with your opinion. I purchased this CD also and was not really impressed. The talent was there, but the material was mostly mediocre... mostly poorly written songs. Also, the mix is pretty bad. Now, I've been let down by Metallica and AC/DC has made the same kind of album ( albeit with of mostly poor quality ) over the last 20 yrs, they have a much greater catalog of good quality music.
I wanted to believe that between Tommy Lee and Newstead there would be some really energetic stuff , but it's all mostly derivative. Maybe if the production would have been more raw and stripped down, instead of having so much studio polish, it may have worked better.
That being said, kudos to you for not putting up with someone's short-minded, poorly written and ill-conceived arguments to insult your taste.... I disagree with your take on the album, but can respect that you do.

Yeah, I did buy it... But haven't listened to it since the first week of release.
I was at BB thinking I wanted something different and was bored out of my mind. I came out of the store with Gojira and said 'f*uck it, I'll take this one too'.
Never go buy a CD when you're bored, It's like going to the grocery store when you're hungry: you'll buy stuff you don't really want or need... although, Gojira is still kicking my a$$
