DEVIN TOWNSEND To Release 'Ziltoid The Omniscient' Later In The Year
- Mar. 1, 2007
STRAPPING YOUNG LAD mastermind Devin Townsend has changed the projected title of his next solo album to "Ziltoid the Omniscient" from the previously announced "The Mighty Masturbator". Devin described the material on the CD as a mix between STRAPPING YOUNG LAD and THE DEVIN TOWNSEND BAND. The album, which will be released under the DEVIN TOWNSEND banner instead of THE DEVIN TOWNSEND BAND, will reportedly be recorded completely by Devin, who is expected to take care of the singing, guitar, bass, synthesizers and sampling duties, in addition to mixing and producing the CD on his own. Devin has stated on the Hevydevy forums that he is using "the drumkit from Hell" on this release, which was previously utilized by MESHUGGAH on "Catch Thirty-Three" and which was developed by MESHUGGAH's Tomas Haake.
Devin and his wife Tracy welcomed their first child, a boy named Reyner, on October 4, 2006.

he is not playing drums. he is using a sampling program called 'the drumkit from hell' it is the same program meshuggah used for catch-33.
I have also used it, and it is amazing.

It is indeed, very realistic...Though I have trouble finding the closed to open hi hat pedal sound, I think the technique is called 'cooking', i'm not sure though.
