Italian GUNS N' ROSES Fan Site Shuts Down In Response To 'Chinese Democracy' 'Saga'

Italian GUNS N' ROSES fan site/community GNRonline.it has officially shut down as a result of the lack of official information regarding the band and the group's long-awaited new album "Chinese Democracy". The GNRonline.it administrators have issued the following statement regarding the matter: "We regret to tell you that in relation to the protest we started on December 7th 2006, our GUNS fan sites and forums, GNRonline.it and GNRonline.org, will be shut down at once. The never-ending saga of 'Chinese Democracy', the lack of respect, clearness and mutual loyalty are just some of the reasons that has brought us down to this painful conclusion. "Until now our detractors have always accused us of being ' Axl fanatics' (and to a certain degree, it is probably true) but today we aren't able to sustain Axl's project anymore, neither financially nor economically. We just can't afford to waste our heads on a project that has never even taken us into consideration. We gladly leave that to other 'fan' sites and forums that have the will and passion to be fooled around one more time. It is also sad that the aforementioned websites and forums, most of whom claim to have direct links to the GNR camp, have built a wall between them and other sites like ours (as well every other fan out there), reluctant to even start collaborations from whom we all would have benefit from. " GNRonline shutting down will not only affect the flow of GNR news and discussions in Italy, but it will also tear apart a community of 3500 users who have been maintaining daily relationships and friendship through this website for many years now. Coherence though is one thing that have always been a key point of our conducts, and despite the fact that closing down upsets us a lot, this is the only thing that makes sense to do at this point. "We still want to believe in Axl Rose and his record and we greatly wish that 'Chinese Democracy' would see the light of day before February 2008. If that will be the case we will make our best effort to re-open the site otherwise our domains will be lost and that will be the end of it."

I think W. Asshole Rose is cracking under the weight of his own legacy. Waaaaaaaaaay back in '98 Spin magazine interviewed several people involved in the recording of this same as-yet-unreleased LP, and the consensus seemed to suggest that Axl was trying so hard to outdo himself that he was going nuts in the process. They actually claimed to have over ONE THOUSAND hours of recorded demo tracks, and yet still lacked 10 or 12 finished songs for an album.
I think he's painted himself into a corner with his image, his firing of the originals, etc., and now he knows he's set himelf up to fail BIG time, having obsessed so long over it that the public's expectations have now grown so far beyond any band's abilities.
In short, Axl's screwed. The safest thing would be to re-hash Appetite, but then he looks like a dick for firing the original members. If he does something different, people will question why the wait. It's gone on so long, he could put out the best album in a decade and STILL not be as well received as woul dbe the case if it were released 10 years easrlier when people would have been more receptive.
Worst thing of all, great rock music cannot be faked in the studio. If it takes 15 years to complete, it can't possibly sound honest and natural like an album bashed out in a matter of days or weeks like say..... Appetite For Destruction?? And without that, it's just pop with loud guitars.
I'm still pullin' for him, though. Rock music needs more bands like the original GnR. Maybe he'll surprise us.

It's all a setup for the single boldest move in rock history -
A full box set of all ORIGINAL material. Seriously!
The whole record industry buzzed when UYI 1 and 2 came out, followed by the Pumpkins doing the same with Mellon Collie, albeit in one package. Dropping 4 or 5 new LP's worth of material on the unsuspecting public all at once would be a huge gamble both for the artist and the label, but a major publicity coup at the same time. If it bombs, they're all done. Forever. But if it works.... Damn. Imagine 'new' singles still hitting the radiowaves 3, 4 years AFTER they hit the record store shelves.
I'm not betting on it, but I'd love to see it. And it would be just like Axl to pull it off. A way to sort of 'overpower' the old GnR legacy with more combined new material than the original lineup ever put out in total.
Now taking bets.

Does anyone here see some similarity between Axl Rose and Eddie Van Halen? Whacked out nutjob who can't get along with anyone, no regard for the fans, etc., etc. Maybe Axl's cornrows are putting undo pressure on his brian - loosen 'em up, Axl.

The best thing Ass Pull could do at this point is hook up with the reigning King of Rock Crazy, the man who single-handedly cured his own cancer (but shh--don't tell the medical establishment!) yet can't get his shit together long enough to play a few songs with a handful of old fucks who he played with for 20 years, the Dutch Dingleberry, Baron Von Twiddly, Mr. Edward Van Halen hisself.

I read somewhere that Axl signed a new contract a few years back in order to get more cash for recording. Supposedly, one of the stipulations was that if he didn't finish the album and release it by the end of 2007, Geffen Records would acquire legal ownership of the project and more than likely, release the record with or without Rose's consent. God I hope that is true. We all know the album will either suck or just not live up to the impossibly huge hype. Just release the damn thing and move on.
It's like your hairline Axl, it's just never going to be as good as it was. Get over it.
Who would have thought Velvet Revolver would actually stay together and release another album before Chinese Democracy came out? Oh wait...
Hell, I'll bet Metallica beats G&R to the punch. And that is just sad.

This isn't sad or anything, it is the biggest joke, but as many, I'm still curious what is going to happen. It is likely the last Soap I'm interested in, because it has only become that.
