DOWN Premieres New Song In Seattle; Photos, Video Available - Mar. 10, 2007
A BLABBERMOUTH.NET user who calls himself "Hailtheleaf96" has submitted the following report:

"Last night [Friday, March 9], DOWN played its first show in over nine months at the El Corazon in Seattle, WA. The show featured a very energetic and coherent Philip Anselmo. Before coming to the stage they had a white screen up in front that had a projected movie of some live performances from KISS, AC/DC, BLACK SABBATH, LED ZEPPELIN and others. The movie also featured clips of home video taken of the guys clowning around, Kirk [Windstein, DOWN guitarist] getting a tattoo, and other various stuff. They came out to a packed house and opened the set with 'Lysergik Funeral Procession'. Some of the other songs they played (not in order) were: 'Ghosts along the Mississippi', 'New Orleans is a Dying Whore', 'Lifer', 'Temptation's Wings', 'Jail', 'Losing All', 'There's Something on My Side', 'Bury me in Smoke'... The played a new song off the upcoming, yet-to-be-named album [the working title is 'Down III' — Ed.]. The song was called 'I Scream'. If there is any indication by this song what the album is like, we are in for some killer DOWN tunes."

Check out pictures from last night's show at this location.

A low-quality video clip of DOWN performing the new song "I Scream" at the Seattle show is available for download at this location. An audio stream of the track can be found at www.myspace.com/down32007.

DOWN's setlist - Seattle's El Corazon, March 9, 2007:

01. Lysergik Funeral Procession
02. Lifer
03. There's Something On My Side
04. Losing All
05. Rehab
06. I Scream
07. Ghosts along the Mississippi
08. Learn from this Mistake
09. New Orleans is a Dying Whore
10. Temptation's Wings
11. Lies (I Don't Know What They Say But...)
12. Underneath Everything
13. Eyes of the South
14. Jail
15. Stone the Crow
16. Bury Me in Smoke

DOWN entered a Los Angeles studio last month to begin recording its third full-length album, tentatively titled "Down III". Producer Warren Riker (CROWBAR, SUBLIME) is helming the effort, for which the band had reportedly composed more than 18 tracks.

after downloading that low quality video and watching a couple times I have to say I'm pretty psyched to hear more new material. that's a cool catchy little tune, reminds me a lot of their first CD. great performance too. they sound in top shape.

Yup, I'm another first day buyer.

I know a store that gets imported versions of the cd and they usually arrive 4 or 5 days early. So I'm in there like swimwear on this one. The last Down as well, actually.

I went to the show as well last night. Phil was drinking water on stage, looked and sounded GREAT! I NEVER seen him drink water on stage before EVER. I was happy. Too bad it took Dime losing his life to get himself cleaned up.....

Anyhow, the band sounded amazing. When they kicked in Lysergik is was heavy as fuck and they sounded tight. It was nice to see Phil back on stage and very humble and appreciative of the crowd. Just how he used to be before Pantera blew up. I hope Down keeps going and I'm ready for the new album!

Rex and Jimmy are cold sober now too. Which is good to see. I talked Jimmy, Pepper and Kirk on the bus before the show. They were all in a good mood and pumped up to be out on the road and getting ready to play with Heave and Hell! I'd love to see that show every night!

I read an interview with him a good year back where he was talking about this back condition he had that caused him to get addicted to pain pills b/c he would take them so he could ignore the pain on stage and what not. He said he had a surgery where they pretty much much took apart his back and put it together and again and decided to sober up.
A few months later Down was on tour and I looked up some of their vids, I was amazed to see a coherent Phil on stage actually singing and sounding good. I compared it to some of his later Pantera work and the difference was astounding.
How much of his story you want to believe is up to you, but I'm just happy to see the man back on track.

Everyone else in this band gets so underated due to Phil, he seems the least professional of the group and tends to be pretty off live, Down rules, not just the guy who sung for Pantera.

I saw the PANTERA BTM on VH1 and say what you want about Phil (He is an ego-maniac, ex? drug addict) but he did confess to mistakes he made and proclaimed was sorry for them. He admitted he was wrong on how he handled some issues and I for one hope he can move on.

The whole PANTERA / DIME / PHIL deal is sad. Not sure what will happen with him and VP...Maybe one day they will get back together.

so if down makes a great third record we're not allowed to like it because phil anselmo might do drugs again? or because of some dumb fued between him and a guy who came to a tragic end?

who's the sheep here?

who gives a fuck about phil anselmo's personal life? i'm not his father. down made some good music regardless.

The El Corazon is the crappiest club in the city. Why they played there is beyond me. There are alot better venues in Seattle than that place. I hate it. But I had to see this show. As I figured, it was packed to the hilt, and hot as fuck. The band was tight and focused. They all looked healthy. Especially Phil. Actually looks like he lost some weight too. The least amount of talk from Phil that I have ever seen, aside from giving kudos to the crowd. It was off the hook loud. The band and the crowd. I am in Vancouver tonight to see them again. This should be a good. show. I like all the groups. Can't wait to hear Mob Rules and Neon Nights again. I remember a very old interview, that Phil said that Neon Nights was one of the first songs he ever performed live. Down is back and I can't wait for the third record.

I seriously can't wait for this.I'll be there when they come to my town. My man always laughs when we joke that nobody can do it for me like Anselmo.

Seriously though,he may have fucked up many a time and the thing with Dime's passing away was horrible but if he can get his life on track then more power to him.

Oh one more thing:uh huh, shut up. Not everyone is as perfect as you. I bet you never screwed up one single thing in your whole life, have you, dude?
