Ex-FUEL Singer Replaces IAN ASTBURY In RIDERS ON THE STORM
- Mar. 15, 2007

THE DOORS founding members Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger have chosen ex-FUEL lead singer Brett Scallions to front their project RIDERS ON THE STORM, filling the void created when THE CULT's Ian Astbury departed the group last month. "Brett is on board and we are glad to have him, he has a great voice and a lot of charisma," states keyboardist Manzarek.
"Jim Morrison can never be replaced, but this project has never been about that," expressed guitarist Krieger. "It's about giving a voice to the body of work we created with Jim in a live setting."
Brett Scallions departed FUEL in early 2006 after fronting the multi-platinum act for over a decade. The rock band best know for the hit songs "Hemmorage", "Bittersweet" and "Shimmer", tried in vain to recruit "American Idol"'s Chris Daughtry as a replacement. Scallions has moved on from the band, and looks forward to working with Manzarek and Krieger. "Having an opportunity to share the stage with these great musicians is more exciting than anything I've ever done. I'm so proud to be a part of this," declared the vocalist.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of THE DOORS. The Venice Beach, California-based band released their first record in 1967. In February of 2007 the band was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award and a star of The Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
RIDERS ON THE STORM is managed by Tom Vitorino Management, and represented by The Kirby Organization.

Does anyone actually believe that ANY of the burnouts who were into The Doors back in the day have 1/1,000,000th of an inkling who Ian Astbury is, let alone this knob from Fuel? These washed-out, sad-sack baby-boomers will pay thru the nose for ANY opportunity to see any band from their age group get up there and fart out a few songs they've heard a billion times already on classic rock radio, no matter how tenuous the connection to the original group. I'm surprised the two leftovers from The Doors aren't joining up with the Vegas-spawned renditions of The Coasters and the Temptations, featuring lead vocals by the former next-door-neighbor's brother's friend's cousin's high-school gym coach who once met Berry Gordy. Pathetic.

I think he's a really good singer, so good for him. He's not Morrison, but I'll see them.

Seriously, if Ian Astbury didn't work out and he CAN sing, then why would the loser from Fuel be any better?

...i'm surprised that they didn't bring in scott stapp for this... his solo album didn't exactly rock the charts, it doesn't look like he'll do a reunion with his old band, and his voice is direct copycat of morrison, so it would fit what they need exactly... i don't think that scallions is a good fit... as for weiland, i think he showed us how well he does covers the other day...

...is so out of touch with reality that he actually thinks people such as Axl and Weiland are Gods.
I go to great lengths to make people realize what a fucking douchebag moron T-Boner is -- but he pretty much does that all by himself with every one of his posts. He verifies each and every time that he opens his fat glam mouth... he is best to be ignored.
When all is said and done, T-Boner has serviced more cock than a rooster farm, regardless of how he defends or represents himself.

I was standing outside a concert in Philly, forget which one. The conversation went something like this:
Homeless Guy (HG): What are you doing? Me: My friends and I love standing in lines. Tonight we are doing it in front of the Trocadero.
HG: Is there a concert tonight?
Me: Yeah.
HG: Is it the Doors of the 21st Century because that is the only band I would ever want to see.
Me: I suppose you need money then to go see them and not alcohol.
HG: No, any money you give me will be spent on booze.
I had to hand the man 3 dollars just because of his brutal honesty. But this Doors revival is a huge hit among the homeless in Philly. Sadly, with the murder rate so high I am sure he is dead.

What??? I saw FUEL open up for AEROSMITH back in 2001 and I thought they were a pretty decent live band.
But, I don't see how Brett Scallions fits in The Doors. Ian Astbury was a perfect fit, Brett doesn't fit at all.
