AMORPHIS: New Album Due In August; Single Release Planned For June - Mar. 19, 2007
Finland's AMORPHIS spent the beginning of the year in the studio preparing its as-yet-untitled eighth album, due on August 29 in Finland and on August 31 in the rest of Europe via Nuclear Blast Records. As a first taste of the new material, a single will be released on June 27. The new CD was recorded at Sonic Pump studios in Helsinki, Finland. Mixing duties will be handled by Mikko Karmila (NIGHTWISH, STRATOVARIUS) at Finnvox studios.

Having recently made a phenomenal return to the pinnacle of the Finnish metal scene, AMORPHIS will be treating their Finnish fans to a mini-tour comprising four gigs in April. The Helsinki show is already sold out, but tickets to the Turku, Eura, and Jyväskylä concerts are still available.

Throughout the summer months, AMORPHIS will be busy touring festivals home and abroad. In addition to a number of Finnish dates, several appearances in Germany and Belgium are already confirmed.

Upcoming AMORPHIS shows:

Apr. 07 - Tavastia, Helsinki (FI)
Apr. 19 - Klubi, Turku (FI)
Apr. 20 - Osmantupa, Eura (FI)
Apr. 21 - Lutakko, Jyväskylä (FI)
May 05 - A38, Budapest (HU)
Jun. 25-28 - Wave Gotik Treffen, Leipzig (DE)
Jun. 21 - Rockjuhannus, Järvenpää (FI)
Jun. 22 - Graspop Metal Meeting, Dessel (BE)
Jun. 23 - Bang Your Head, Balingen (DE)
Jul. 6-8 - Ruisrock, Turku (FI)
Jul. 13 - Rockperry, Vaasa (FI)
Jul. 14 - Ilosaari, Metelli, Joensuu (FI)
Aug. 2-4 - Wacken Open Air, Wacken (DE)
Aug. 11 - Pellavarock, Lammi (FI)

AMORPHIS' last album, "Eclipse", was issued in a limited vinyl edition in a deluxe gatefold sleeve by Black Lodge Records under worldwide license from Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Far from the Sun" was recorded at Sonic Pump studios with engineer Nino Laurenne (THUNDERSTONE). The production duties were handled by the band and Marco Hietala (NIGHTWISH) for vocals. The mixing was taken care of by Karmila (who previously worked with the group on their "Am Universum" CD) at Finnvox in Helsinki.

It's going to be hard to top Eclipse, but if they do...

it will be "one of the best of the year"

The only thing wrong with Elegy was that crappy clean vocalist. The current sing is WAY better. I hope the new one has more death vocals. Eclipse was awesome.

Pasi Koskinen was the best part of Elegy. His vocals went perfectly with tone and atmosphere of the album. I don't know how it's possible to dislike his vocals here. I could see how you could have a problem with his vocals on Far From the Sun, but certainly not Elegy. I think they took a big step backward vocally when Pasi left the band.

Easy. His vocals are terrible. I did not buy any other Amorphis until he left the band.

Pasi is not much of a singer - that's true. Still, you are missed couple of awesome albums ("Tuonela" and "Am Universum")!

"Eclipse" is best Amorphis album so far!
I hope for the best with new one!
