KOCH RECORDS Hires SCOTT GIVENS As VP Of Metal - Mar. 20, 2007
KOCH Records has hired executive Scott Givens as VP of Metal. Givens will be based in New York and will report to KOCH Records President Bob Frank.

Givens will be responsible for all metal signings and the day-to-day management of the division.

Previously, Givens worked at RCA Records as Senior Director of Artist Development, where he spearheaded marketing campaigns for many of the label's rock acts.

Prior to his stint at RCA, Givens was General Manager of Divine Recordings, the label created by Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne. Givens also worked at Roadrunner Records as the VP of Artist Development.

Givens has worked with acts such as VELVET REVOLVER, SLIPKNOT, SEPULTURA and TYPE O NEGATIVE, among others.

Frank comments, "Scott is ready for battle! He is joining our horde at a time of ultimate momentum for KOCH Records in the marketplace. We expect to dominate the indie metal world and with Scott Givens unleashed there is nothing in our way."

KOCH Records is a division of KOCH Entertainment, the fastest-growing music company and the market leader among independents in North America. The KOCH Entertainment corporate umbrella encompasses the KOCH Records label, KOCH Vision home video, KOCH Music Publishing and KOCH Entertainment Distribution with operations in both the U.S. and Canada. KOCH Records proudly claims the largest number of Billboard-charting albums among independents for each of the last six years (2001-2006).

And people would actually consider this worth the post on blabbermouth? Honestley...they should make a section for all those little bands..meaning those bands no one knows or gives a fuck about.

Scott Givens is one of the only reputable and trustworthy dudes in the music business. He'll look you in the eye and tell you exactly what the deal is, which is a rarity. And you never have to worry about a knife in your back when dealing with him. A stitch in your side maybe, from crackin' up, but never a knife. Best of luck to him.

Scott was a major force at Roadrunner when they were the best metal label in the world. While Im not sure this is Blabbermouth worthy, it's still cool. Rock on Mr. Givens. Oh and the Rangers STILL SUCK!

Naw, Roadrunner probably out bidded Koch for new contracts with both bands once their record deals were over with Koch and it was time to negotiate new contracts.

How the fuck did you find out about all the bands you listen to now?? Godamn idiot. Oh wait, you must be one of "those". People that only listen to what the radio people say to listen to.

Any idea how many "real metal bands" are in the indie world?? Most of them wipe the floor with the "real big bands that are signed". That is the truth.

They sorely need someone with a clue about metal over at Koch. Their venture with 'Combat' produced some of the most atrocious bands of the last 5 years. Time to sign some good bands!

COMMENT | OK all you unsigned metal bands

...........................................................................

No Opeth and Cradle of Filth were a part of Zomba the Parent compay of the subsidary/ imprint Music For Nations.

What happened was at least for Cradle of Fith was there US licensing companys...Fierce which folded in to Mayhem Records. Both Fierce/ Mayhem ( which orignally were called Futurist as subdivison of Mechanix Records). Closed its doors. Leaving Cradle of Filth with out a US or Euopean Manufacturer/ Markeeter. Actually Koch had picked up Midian because Mayhem, but MFN had folded by then, and got the rights to the first 2 MFN titles because MFN were no more.

As for Cradle of Filth "Dusk and Her Embrace" and "Cruelty and the Beast" 1 CD version were on Fierce and the "Cruelty and the Beast" 2 CD version was on Mayhem in the states. The Koch ones are US terrority reissues.

Opeths stuff that was pressed on Music For Nations, will be repressed by Sony Music in Europe. And I still see the Music for Nations licensed products on Koch, still in record shops.

Paradise Lost had Dranconian Times issused on Relativity in the States, but for some reason. KOCH repressed the US Version, shortly before MFN closed its doors.
